All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: Don Raymond The Stanberry Headlight, Gentry County, Missouri, Thursday, September 5, 1957: Emma Newell Taken by Death: Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Stanberry Methodist church for Mrs. Emma Newell, 92, a resident of this community nearly all her life, who died Friday morning at the Graves Rest home here. The services were conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Richard Davis and burial was in High Ridge cemetery under the direction of the Phillips Mortuary. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ora Russell, Stanberry, one son, Charles Newell, Savannah; a brother, George Law, Sutherland, Neb.; two sisters, Mrs. Nannie Marynee, Kearney, Neb., and Mrs. Cora Parton, Silverton, Ore., two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Newell, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph D. Law, was born Apr. 14, 1865, on a farm just south of what is now Stanberry. She and Milam Newell were married in 1889 in North Platte, Neb. Except for five years spent in Nebraska as a young woman, Mrs. Newell was a resident of this community. Mr. Newell preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 1947.
