James M. Pike, one of Gentry county's pioneer residents, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Perry McPherron, in Omaha, Neb., about 8 o'clock Monday night. His death was attributed to the infirmities of age. He had been in failing health for some time and had been confined to his bed the past three weeks. Mr. Pike was 84 years of age and had lived almost his entire life in this immediate vicinity. Until about six years ago he was engaged in farming 6 miles southeast of Stanberry. For the past five years he had been a resident of Stanberry. He was a member of the Baptist church. Last November he and Mrs. Pike went to Omaha to spend the winter months with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. McPherron, and with other relatives there. Shortly before their departure for Omaha, they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary at their home here. His survivors are the widow, Mrs. Margaret Pike; four sons, George, J. R. and John of Omaha and Harrison of Chicago, and one daughter, Mrs. Perry McPherron at whose home he died. Also 17 grandchildren, and 13 great- grandchildren. The funeral arrangements had not been made at the time this newspaper went to press. NOTE: Burial was in High Ridge cemetery.
