All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: Don Raymond The Tri-County News, Gentry County Missouri, Friday, May 2, 2003: Mabelle Fontelle (Dollars) Reece, died April 18, 2003, at Pine View Manor in Stanberry. Born in Gentry County on May 28, 1914; the daughter of Harve and Therena (Jones) Dollars, she lived most of her life in and around the Stanberry area. Mrs. Reece graduated eighth grade from the Star School, west of Stanberry. She later worked fro Voght's Poultry until her marriage to Ira Thomas Reece on Dec. 24, 1933 at the Baptist Church parsonage in Stanberry. She remained a member of the First Baptist Church her entire life. She was also an active member of Hunter Chapter, 238, Order of the Eastern Star, as long as her health permitted. From 1946 - 49, Mr. and Mrs. Reece owned the Sinclair Station in Stanberry. In 1949, they bought the Skelly Truck Stop along with her sister and brother-in-law, Lela and Billy Groomer. After selling the business in 1962, Mr. and Mrs. Reece owned Reece's Cafe, on the east side of the square in Stanberry until 1979, when she retired. Following retirement, she worked for the Green Thumb program at the Gentry County Library for several years. Mrs. Reece was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Donnie Ray Reece; her husband, Ira Thomas Reece; three sisters, Golda Redmond, Elsie Ashford and Velma Dorothy Wolverton and two brothers, Huberr (Lefty) Dollars and Emory (Airtight) Dollars. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Iris and Earl Cummings, Pensacola, FL.; Therena and Jerry Smith, Yale, OK., Orakay and Robert Redmond, Stanberry; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lela Groomer, Stanberry and Janie Kossieck, Bullhead City, AZ.; two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on April 22 at First Baptist Church with burial in High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry. Arrangements were handled by Johnson Funeral Home.
