All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: Don Raymond The Stanberry Headlight, Gentry County Missouri, Thursday, November 7, 1968, front page: Otha James Reece Taken by Death: Final services were held last Saturday afternoon at the Stanberry Christian church for Otha James Reece, 79, a former Stanberry resident, who died last Wednesday at his home in Kansas City, Mo. The rites were conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Donald tiller, and burial was in the high Ridge cemetery under the direction of the Johnson Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Katherine Reece, of the home. Four daughters and seven sons also survive him. They are: Mrs. Olive Boley and Mrs. Berniece Boley, of Kansas City, Mrs. Sarah Ross and Mrs. Betty Spangler, both of Stanberry. Willis Reece of St. Joseph, O'Dell Reece of Kansas City, Kan., Virgil Reece, Marvin Reece, Vernon Reece and Martin Reece, all of Kansas City, Mo., and Robert Reece of Kansas City, Kan. Mr. Reece also is survived by a step-daughter, Mrs. Kathleen Baxter of Castro Valley, Calif., a step-son, Lyle Davis, of Big Pine, Calif., and by 28 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one step-grandchild. Mr. Reece, son of the late Woodford Harrison and Sarah Lavina Hardin Reece, was born September 11, 1889, at Stanberry. He and the former Miss Isadora Keller were united in marriage on December 25, 1912. Mr. Reece retired from farming 28 years ago and he and his family moved from this community to Kansas City. Mrs. Reece preceded him in death on November 16, 1955. He and the former Mrs. Katherine Davis were united in marriage in 1967.
