Sager, 89, Stanberry, died Jan. 20, 2004, at Pine View Manor in Stanberry. Mr. Sager was born May 16, 1914, in Stanberry; the son of Elmer and Dora (Knoephel) Sager. He spent most of his life working as a mechanic and farmer. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge #109 A.F.&A.M., both of Stanberry. Mr. Sager was united in marriage to Helen Minkner on May 15, 1937. She preceded him in death on Feb. 25, 1991. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Fern Sager; brothers, Floyd, Ralph and Robert Sager. Survivors include daughters, Betty Baker, St. Joseph; Judy Cummings and husband, Richard, Kansas City; Linda Steinhauser and husband, Robert, N. Little Rock, AR.; sisters, Goldie Phillips and Evelyn Newby, Stanberry and Vivian Gamblin, Wichita, KS.; brothers, Cleo Sager, Stanberry; Melvin Sager, Lee's Summit; grandchildren, Dianne Manville, Bryon Law, David Cummings, Lisa Knox, Lori Snider, Douglas Steinhauser and amber Ellis; great-grandchildren, Nathan Manville, Amanda and Meagan Law, Jaimie Knox, Nicole and Joseph Cummings, Clark, Audrey and Phillip Snider. Funeral services were held on Jan. 24 at the Stanberry United Methodist Church with burial in High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry. Memorials may be given to the Stanberry United Methodist Church or the Stanberry Nutrition Site. Arrangements were handled by Roberson-Polley Chapel, Stanberry.
