He was sick with Typhoid fever for nearly a month. Finally the fever proved too severe for Barney, and on Nov. 9, 1911, his spirit returned to God who gave it. Barney was 17 years, 8 months and 11 days old. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Shisler and by his six brothers - Oria, Sherman, Troy, Alex, Raymond and Granville. The funeral was held Sunday, Nov. 12, at 3 p. m., at the First Christian church, conducted by Rev. A. W. Luce. The church was filled with a large and sympathetic audience of kind friends, who had known and loved Barney Shisler. Barney was a boy of lovable disposition, affectionate and obedient to his parents, kind and considerate of his many friends. At such a time, when on is in a home where there is a vacant chair; where the soul is dumb and we are in the presence of a great affliction, = then we rest upon the promises of Jesus, "I an the resurrection and the life, he that believeth in me though he were dead yet shall he live." "The air is full of farewells to the dying, And mournings for the dead; The heart of Rachel, for her children crying, Will not be comforted. "Let us be patient. Those severe afflictions Not from the ground arise; But oftentimes celestial benedictions Assume this dark disguise. "In that great cloister's pure and holy stillness, By guardian angels led; Safe from temptation, safe from sin's pollution, He lives whom we call dead."
