All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: Don Raymond The Stanberry Headlight, Gentry County, Missouri, Thursday, July 28, 1966: Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon in the Darlington Baptist church for Miss Ross M. Shoemaker, 92, Darlington, who died last Wednesday at the Gentry County Memorial hospital at Albany. The rites were conducted by the Rev. Lewis Clark and burial was in the Rouse Cemetery, Darlington, under the direction of the Johnson Funeral Home. Survivors include two brothers, Earl Shoemaker and Paul Shoemaker, both of Darlington. Miss Shoemaker, daughter of the late Leander and Margaret Shelby Shoemaker, was born Oct. 28, 1873 in Darlington. Miss Shoemaker taught English and history in high schools in Missouri and Iowa for more than 50 years before her retirement. She was a graduate of the old Stanberry Normal and the University of Missouri and held a Master's degree from the University of Chicago. She was a member of the Darlington Methodist church.
