News-Press; Monday, January 10, 2006: Roy G. Slagle 1930-2006; GLADSTONE, Mo. - Roy G. Slagle, 75, of Gladstone, passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at his home. Roy, the son of Eugene and Georgia (Morrow) Slagle, was born April 1, 1930, in Gentry County, Mo. On Sept. 30, 1955, he was united in marriage to Imogene Reynolds in Stanberry, Mo. She survives of the home in Gladstone. He also is survived by sons, Kenneth Slagle, and wife, Jacque, Kansas City, Mo.; and Chris Slagle, Gilbert, Ariz.; daughter, Cathy Jo Wilson, and husband, Terry, Parkville, Mo.; mother-in-law, Goldie Reynolds, Stanberry, Mo.; five grandchildren, Travis, Devon and Shelly Wilson; and Amy and Alex Slagle; sisters, Audean Shanks, Erma Adwell, Twila Osborn and Carol Messner; and many other relatives and friends. Roy lived in the Stanberry area before going to the Army in 1950. He later went to work as a machinist for Midwest Conveyor Inc. in Edwardsville, Kan., before retiring. Roy was a member of the Linden Baptist Church, Gladstone; and also served as a Boy Scout leader and awards chairman for many years, and had the privilege to see both of his sons achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Roy enjoyed camping and later spending the winters in Texas and Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Mary Gayla and Carla; sister, Beulah Brandstetter; and a brother, Vilas Slagle. Funeral service: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Stanberry. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the chapel. The family also will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the Linden Baptist Church, 611 N.E. 69th Street, Gladstone. Burial will be in the High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry, with military rites by the Raymond Sager American Legion Post No. 260, Stanberry; and Tri-C Memorial Post No. 464, Conception, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
