He has lived all his life in the county where he was born. At the age of 10 years he united with the Bethel Methodist Episcopal church, South, in Nodaway county. He lived with his parents on the farm, except the last few years he spent in the service of the Wabash Railroad Company, until failing health compelled him to retire, and at this time he belonged to the order of Railroad Trainmen. He was confined to his bed more than a year, but bore the suffering as only one can who has put their trust in their Lord and Savior. As it dawned on him that he must soon depart this life, he said he was ready to go and in the closing hours of his life, sang praise in his weak way to his Maker, and waving his hands looking toward heaven, seeming to be beckoning to the unseen to mortal eye, slowly lapsed into that sleep that knows no waking. His funeral was conducted at the M. E. church in this city by the pastor on Monday, Dec. 11, at 2 o'clock p. m., and his remains were laid to rest in High Ridge cemetery. He leaves father, mother, sister and brother with a number of other relatives.
