The daughter of Lemuel and Fannie (Phillips) Pierce; she was born Aug. 11, 1927 in Stan-berry. She was a graduate of Stanberry high school and lived in Stanberry until moving to St. Joseph, where she resided until 2002, when she relocated to Sterling following the death of her husband. She was a member of the Ashland United Methodist Church, St. Joseph and the Telephone Company Pioneers, after 40 years of service, and a member of the ABWA. On Jan.. 7, 1950, she was united in marriage to Louis F. Stein, who preceded her in death. Survivors include nephews, Vernon Pierce and wife, Joan, Snyder, CO; Franklin Jay Pierce and wife, Audrey, Fallen, NE; niece, Jean A. Thompson, Billings, MT; numerous great and great-great nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held on Jan. 23 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel in Stanberry. Burial was in High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry. Memorial contributions may be given to Ashland United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
