All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: Don Raymond The Tri-County News, Friday, September 15, 2000: Delmar Martin Stockton, 74, St. Joseph, died Sept. 9, 2000 at a St. Joseph hospital. Born Oct. 25, 1925, in Stanberry, Mr. Stockton graduated from Stanberry high school. He worked for MFA for 27 years, serving as district and regional manager. He later worked for Farmland Industries until retiring in 1987. Mr. Stockton served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stanberry, where he served as a trustee. He also was a member of the Stanberry Fire Department, Stanberry Legion Post and Masonic Lodge A.F.&A.M. No 109 in Stanberry. Mr. Stockton also served on the board of directors for Pine View Manor in Stanberry. He had been mayor of Shelbina, and also served on the Shelbina Rural Fire Department. On Oct. 28, 1947, he married Norma J. Talmadge. She died in 1990. Mr. Stockton was also preceded in death by a son, Douglas M. Stockton; his parents and by two brothers, Marion and Robert L. Stockton. Survivors include a daughter, Jeanelle Stockton, Council Bluffs, IA.; two sisters, Gertrude Kier, St. Joseph and Joan Lineberger, Casper, WY. and three grandchildren. Memorial services and burial was held Sept. 12 at High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry. Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Mo-Kan Food Bank, 915 Douglas St., St. Joseph or First Baptist Church in St. Joseph.
