All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: Don Raymond The Tri-County News, Friday, May 28, 1999: Myrtle Olive (Thomas) Stockton, 86, Maryville, formerly of Stanberry, died May 18, 1999, at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville. Mrs. Stockton, a former homemaker, also worked as a cook at the Circle-S Sale Barn, south of Stanberry. Born in Stanberry on July 24, 1912, she lived in Stanberry all of her life until moving to a healthcare center in Maryville 16 months ago. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Stanberry, where she was active in the Christian Women's Fellowship; and the former TL Club-Coffee Club. In March 1933, she married William W. Cogdill. He preceded her in death in 1962. Then in August of 1963 she married Marion Stockton. He died in 1997. Mrs. Stockton was also preceded in death by a daughter, Geraldine Campbell; a son, Frank Cogdill; her parents, Welby and Sarah J. Thomas; a brother, Otha Thomas; two sisters, Ruth Wolverton and Ruby Thomas and a grandchild. Surviving are four sons, Richard Stockton of Westminister, CO.; Donald Stockton, Fort Leavenworth, KS.; Dale Stockton, St. Joseph; and Galen Stockton, Lawton, OK.; four daughters, Anita Bridges, Aldrich, MO.; Nancy Stoll, Stanberry; Margaret Grace, Ravenwood and Mary Poe, Waynesville; two brothers, Wilbert and Forest Thomas, both of Stanberry and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on May 20 at the First Christian Church, Stanberry, with burial in High Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Johnson Funeral Home, Stanberry. Memorials may be sent to the First Christian Church Scholarship Fund, Stanberry or Gentry County Hospice, Albany.
