Born on Aug. 27, 1912, in Harrison County; she was the daugther of David L. and Ethel Heffner McCollum. She graduated from Hamilton high school in 1930 and the Maryville State Teacher's College. Mrs. Thomson had been an elementary and special education teacher in Hamilton; at Pleasant Ridge Schoool, east of Bethany; and in many other rural schools in Harrison County for many years. She was a member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church, where she was active in the UMW and her prayer group. She also called Bingo and the local nursing home. She married M. E. Thomson on Dec. 22, 1934, near Bethany. He preceded her in death in 1981. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Harold Thomson; five brothers and four sisters. Survivors include a son, Dale (Sharon) Thomson, Excelsior Springs; a daughter, Sue (Loren) Hinds, St. Joseph; a daughter-in-law, Pat Thomson, Raytown; two sisters, Ruth Goodwin Young, Cameron and Anna May Gillespie, King City; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Dec. 31 at the Hamilton United Methodist Church. Interment was in Highland Cemetery, Hamilton. Memorials may be given to the church in care of Bram Funeral Home, 208 E. School, Hamilton, MO. 64644, who were in charge of arrangements.
