Walton, succumbed to a heart attack Tuesday, June 22, 1976, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. Born to Edward Burton and Amy Shottuck Wilson on a farm near Stanberry, Mo., January 4, 1898, she was 78 years, five months and 18 days at the time of her death. She was united in marriage to George M. Walton on September 17, 1915, at St. Joseph, Mo. To this union nine children survive the memory of a loving indulgent and devoted mother. The five sons are George Edward, Kansas City, Mo., Robert Lee of Oklahoma City, Ok., Hon. Judge Herbert W. of Olathe, Kan., Dr. Philip D. of Atwood, Kan., and Dr. W. Dean Walton of Leavenworth, Kan. The daughters are Mrs. Glenno Beach of Spokane, Wa., Mrs. Virginia Slagle of Stanberry, Mrs. Bette Holeman of King City, Mrs. Mary Lyerla of Olathe, Kan. Also surviving her are 32 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was a source of inspiration to her children and grandchildren. Her gentle devotion and strong encouragements were incentives, through the years to them. She will live in memory to be cherished by her family and her many friends. Funeral services were held at the Frye Funeral Home, Olathe, Kan., Thursday, June 24, at 9:30 a.m. Graveside services followed at Stanberry, conducted by the Rev. Eddie Rhymes, church pastor. Interment was in the High Ridge Cemetery under the direction of the Johnson Funeral Home. Casket bearers for the services were her grandsons.
