She was married to Charles D. Ward on" July 24th, 1846. To them were born six children, three of whom survive her: Miller Ward of Stanberry, with whom she made her home; C. C. Ward of Hunter, Mo., and Geo. W. Ward of Marshalltown, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Ward lived in Indiana during their married life. Mr. Ward having died at Greensburg March 20, 1865, Mrs. Ward then moved to Unionville, Mo., and in 1890 came to Pattonsburg, about eleven years ago coming to Stanberry, choosing to live in her own home next to her son until a few months ago when she was persuaded to live with him. During the Maj. Cole meetings under the pastorate of Rev. Carothers, she was converted and joined the M. E. church. Mrs. Ward's parents died when she was a child and she knew what it was to fight the battles of life singlehanded, which in a measure accounts for her keeping her own home and living alone for 35 years. She was of a cheerful disposition, and at her extreme age with hearing and sight impaired was quite optomistic. Earth holds no rarer beauty than that reposing in the face of mother. An upright life leaves its testimony with us today to become a precious heritage of memory in the days to come. May its signal effect be to lead us home with God. The funeral services were held at the home of her son, Millard Ward, Sunday, March 28, at 2:30 p. m.,conducted by Rev. Alva C. Brown. Burial at High Ridge cemetery.
