News-Press, Monday, 14 November 2005: STANBERRY, Mo. - Norma Jean (Lane) Wharton, 73, of Stanberry, entered into Eternal Rest on Nov. 12, 2005, at an Albany hospital. She was born Oct. 4, 1932, in Gentry County, Mo. She was the daughter of Cleo and Elsie Lane. On Oct. 28,1947, Norma married Truman Wharton. He survives of the home. She is also survived by her daughter, Martha Wharton; son, Keith Wharton; and a brother, Eldon Lane all of Stanberry. Norma attended the Wilson and Stanberry schools. She was a homemaker and a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where she served as a deacon and the board secretary for many years, also of CWF for two years. In 1959 and 1960 she was a Brownie Scout leader. She worked for the Stingley Flower Shop in Stanberry for about five years as a floral designer. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dewey and Roy G. Lane. Private family services will be held at a later date.
