Biographical Sketch of James Kennon Gilmore, Greene County, Missouri, Cass Township >From "History of Greene County, Missouri," St. Louis: Western Historical Company, 1883. ********************************************************************** This gentleman is a native of Grainger county, Tennessee, and was born in 1827. He moved to Greene county, Missouri in December, 1835 and has been engaged in farming ever since coming to the State. He was married in this county on the 24th of May, 1849, to Miss Sophronia E. Edmonson. They have ten children living, four of whom are married and living in Greene county. His father was one of the early settlers, and died in August, 1879. Mr. Gilmore owns about seven hundred acres of land in the county, and is one of its most substantial citizens. During the war he was a Union man, and has since been identified with the Republi- can party. He and his excellent wife are members of the Baptist church.
