Biographical Sketch of J. H. Hudgings, Greene County, Missouri, Boone Township >From "History of Greene County, Missouri," St. Louis: Western Historical Company, 1883. ********************************************************************** J. H. Hudgings was born in Monroe County, Tennessee, February 26, 1851. His parents were William and Mary Hudgings, and they came to Greene in 1854, where the subject of this sketch grew up and was educated. Early in life he began farming, and that has been his vocation since. In 1874 he came in possession of the place where he now resides, three and a half miles southeast of Ash Grove. The farm contains eighty acres of fine land under good cultivation, and well improved. He was married January 5, 1873 to Miss Judith Spraggins, who was born February 7, 1854. Her parents were William and Sophronia Spraggins, who were natives of Alabama. Mr. and Mrs. Hudgings were blessed with two children, Ethel and Marcia A.
