Biographical Sketch of Lee Holland, Springfield, Greene County, MO >From "History of Greene County, Missouri," St. Louis: Western Historical Company, 1883. ********************************************************************** Mr. Holland is the son of John L. and Martha (Wade) Holland, and was born in springfield, Missouri, January 6th, 1849. His parents were natives of Robertson county, Tennessee. Educational facilities being poor in Missouri during the civil war, Lee was sent to McKendree Coll- ege and the Michigan State University at Ann Arbor, to be educated. He graduated in a commercial course at the Christian Brothers' College at St. Louis, and then returned to Springfield, where he engaged in the mercantile business for about three years. He then accepted a posi- tion in the First National Bank as book-keeper, and afterward as tell- er. In 1879, he was elected vice-president of the bank, which office he now holds. He was married November 15th, 1873 to Miss Alice, the daughter of Dr. E. F. and Elizabeth (Sproul) Robberson. This union has been blessed with two children, viz.: Ralph and James. He and his wife are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South.
