Biographical Sketch of Jake Marx, Springfield, Greene County, Missouri >From "History of Greene County, Missouri," St. Louis: Western Historical Company, 1883. ********************************************************************** This gentleman was born in Prussia, November 13, 1850 and is the son of Emanuel and Hannah Marx. In 1867 he came to America and located in Louisville, Kentucky, where he was a clerk in a dry goods clothing house for two years. He then went to Paducah, Kentucky, and sold the same line of goods for about eight years. He came to Springfield in February, 1878 and was a partner in the dry goods and clothing house of Cohn Bros. & Co. He bought out his partners and has since carried on the business alone. He carries an immense stock of fine goods and is deservedly popular.
