Biographical Sketch of Jake Rothschild, Greene County, Missouri, Springfield >From "History of Greene County, Missouri," St. Louis: Western Historical Company, 1883. ********************************************************************** This prince of Springfield's merchants is the son of Leopold Rothschild and was born February 12, 1850, upon the beautiful and historic Rhine, in Germany. He was educated in the country, and in August, 1868, he came to America, landing in New York. He soon after removed to St. Louis, but only lived in that city a short time, and then went to Mar- shfield, from where he moved to Springfield, and opened out one of the largest stocks of clothing ever brought to this part of the State.
