Biographical Sketch of Douglas Stevenson, Greene County, Missouri, North Springfield >From "History of Greene County, Missouri," St. Louis: Western Historical Company, 1883. ********************************************************************** Mr. Stevenson was born at Branford, Canada, January 20, 1855. He went to Buffalo, New York, when he was eleven years of age, where he remain- ed five years. He then learned the tinner's trade at Seaforth, Canada. He came to Missouri in the fall of 1872, and began firing upon an eng- ine, and in the fall of 1877 he was promoted to engineer, and has been running an engine upon the St. Louis and San Francisco railway ever since. He was married in 1876, and has three children, viz.: Nellie, James and Douglas.
