Biographical Sketch of S. S. Vinton, Jr., Greene County, Missouri, Springfield >From "History of Greene County, Missouri," St. Louis: Western Historical Company, 1883. ********************************************************************** Mr. Vinton is the son of Samuel S. and Margaret (Campbell) Vinton, and was born at Springfield, Missouri, July 16, 1857. He was educated at the public schools and at Drury College. He was married October 8, 1878, to Miss Ella Whitson, of Springfield. Their union was blest with one child. Mrs. Vinton died March 15, 1882. Mr. Vinton, since quiting school, has been engaged in business with some of the leading men of the county, both as clerk and as a partner. Since January 1, 1883, he and his brother have been in the dry goods and boot and shoe business for themselves on the north side of the square.
