She and her family lived in Springfield, MO for many years. +++ This is an obituary for Sallie/Sarah Isabel Baker Evans from the Waco Times- Herald on March 1, 1909, page 2: MRS. S. I. EVANS DIED EARLY THIS MORNING Mrs. S. I. Evans died at 2:30 this morning at her residence, 1302 North Thirteenth street, after a lingering illness of several months, aged 79 years. She was born April 10, 1829, at Burksville, Ky., married Mr. W. G. Evans March 29, 1849, in that city. She came to Texas soon after the civil war and located at Robinson, Texas, where the family resided until moving to Waco several years age. Her husband, Mr. W. G. Evans, and her son, Judge W. W. Evans, both of whom were noble christian men, died in Waco a few years ago. Mrs. Evans was a charter member of three Baptist churches, one in Burksville, Ky., Robinson, Texas, and Columbus Street Baptist church, Waco, where she held membership at her death. Mrs. Evans was a splendid christian woman. A woman of noble impulses and strong convictions of right, she loved purity and genuineness of character. There survive her three children, Charles Evans, Miss Lizzie Evans and Mrs. Maria Sleeper, all residing in the city. The funeral services will be conducted from the family residence, at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning by her pastor, Rev. U. S. Thomas. Interment at Oakwood. Active pall bearers: Jno. F. Sedwick, Walter Gregg, Jr., C. A. Sherman, Weston Rucker, Luke McKee, and F. M. Allen. The deacons of the Columbus Street Baptist church will act as honorary pall bearers. The death of this good woman will be received with deep regret by the many friends of the family in Waco and Robinson where she was so well known. +++++++++++++++++++ Sallie/Sarah Isabel Baker Evans was born April 10, 1829 in Burkesville, KY. She was the daughter of John Walton Baker(1798-1834) and Elizabeth Cobb Baker (1806-1871). She married William George Evans on March 29,1849 in Burkesville, KY. She was a charter member of the Columbus Avenue Baptist Church of Waco and the First Baptist Church of Robinson, TX.
