Baldwin was born in Prince Edward County, Virginia, May 9, 1836, being the son of Samuel and Susan Baldwin, also natives of Virginia. Thomas H. spent his youth in his native county on the farm, and upon reaching his majority he went to Kentucky, locating in Logan County, where he was married January 7, 1858, to Miss Mary E. Clark, of that county, and a daughter of John T. Clark. After his marriage Mr. B. continued his farming operations in Logan County, for about ten years. In the fall of 1868 he came to Missouri, bought land in Henry County and improved his present farm, which contains 132 acres, 117 in his home place on section 34, being well improved. His orchard consists of 100 apple and some budded peach trees, besides smaller fruits.
