Barnett, section 6, is among the thrifty farmers of Big Creek Township. He is a native of Johnson County, Missouri, and was born February 21, 1849, being the son of George H. Barnett, a Kentuckian by birth, who came to Missouri when a young man and located in Johnson County, where he entered land and improved a farm. He married Miss Mary F. Strange, also originally from Kentucky, and there continued to reside on his farm until his death in 1859. William F. Barnett grew to manhood in the county of his birth, spending his youth on a farm. He was married there November 1, 1874, to Miss Anna E. Satterwhite, a daughter of John Satterwhite and a native of Virginia. Mrs. Barrett was born and reared in Johnson County. After his marriage Mr. B. farmed in that vicinity for about two and a half years, and in March, 1877, he came to Henry County and bought the farm where he now resides. He has over 227 acres of land in fair cultivation, with a young orchard, and is now feeding sixty head of cattle and 150 hogs. Mr. and Mrs. Barnett have four children: Dora May, Daniel E., John H. and William. Mr. B. is a member of the I. O. O.
