BLEDSOE BIOGRAPHIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== BLEDSOE, Wilson H. - b: 1844 Taylor Co, KY source: 1883 History of Henry Missouri , National Historical Co. - page: 499 residence: Clinton Wilson H. Bledsoe, of the firm of Bledsoe & Lane, grocers, came originally from Taylor County, Kentucky, where he was born February 15, 1844. He was reared in the counties of Washington and Marion, and in August, 1861, at the age of seventeen, he enlisted in Company A, Second Kentucky Cavalry, United States Army, and served till December 17, 1864, having participated in the battles of Stone River, Perryvale, Kentucky, Shiloh and Chickamauga. He was captured at the time of McCook and Stoneman's raid through Georgia, and was a prisoner at Andersonville for three months, and then while on the way to Charleston, made his escape when near the mouth of the Edisto River, and was taken aboard a man- of war in that vicinity. Finally he made his way to New York, and in a short time returned to his command; receiving his discharge at Nashville, Tennessee. He then went to Green County, Kentucky, where he remained one year, and from there to Jeffersonville, Indiana, where he remained till February, 1868. Coming to Clinton he was engaged in blacksmithing till May 1881, after which he embarked in the grocery business with his present partner. Mr. Bledsoe was married October 30, 1870, to Miss Emma Burton, a native of Missouri. They have three children: Inez, Iva, and an infant. Mr. B. is a member of the Masonic order and of the I. O. O. F. and has been a representative of the latter order to the grand lodge of the state.
