DARR BIOGRAPHIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== DARR, John - b: 1821 Ross Co, OH source: 1883 History of Henry Missouri , National Historical Co. - page: 699 residence: Big Creek Twp John Darr, farmer, section 15, was born in Ross County, Ohio, March 1, 1821, being the son of Peter Darr, a native of Virginia, who removed to Ohio with his parents when a lad. There he grew to manhood and married Eve Eckenbarger, of German birth, but who was raised in Ohio. Peter Darr went to Elkhart County, Indiana, in 1827, and was one of the pioneers of that county, where he entered land and improved a farm. John Darr spent his youth on this farm and in a flouring mill, and was married in Goshen, Indiana, January 1, 1846, to Miss Ann Margaret E. C. Henkle, born in Germantown, Ohio, November 26, 1827. She was a daughter of the Rev. Andrew Henkle. Mr. and Mrs. Darr have four children, Julia B., (wife of John Fleming) Edwin, Lucy E., (wife of Dr. Kinsey) and Frank C. They have lost three children, two of whom died in infancy, and Andrew M., died in Johnson County, October 15, 1852, at the age of 21 years. After his marriage Mr. Darr was occupied in conducting a flouring mill in Middleton, Butler County, Ohio, for two years. In 1848 he returned to Indiana, where he resumed the flouring business until coming to Missouri in 1866, when he purchased a farm in Johnson County. There he resided about fourteen years. In 1880, selling his Johnson County property. he settled on his present place.
