DUBUQUE BIOGRAPHIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== DUBUQUE, Peter - b: 1817 Canada source: 1883 History of Henry Missouri , National Historical Co. - page: 609 residence: Deepwater Twp Peter Dubuque, a native of Canada, was born August 20, 1817, being the son of Alec. C. and Angelica (Bariteau) Dubuque, also Canadians by birth. Peter grew to manhood at his birthplace, his youth being spent on the farm. In 1839 he came to the United States, passed the winter in New Orleans and in the spring of 1840 settled in Rock Island County. Illinois, where he was engaged in the saw mill and lumber business. He was married in Davenport, Iowa, in December, 1846, to Miss Sarah A. Lindsay, of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, who died July 14, 1348. He was married again in Rock Island County, Illinois, April 15, 1849, to Miss Sarah A. Wilson, originally from Warren County, New York, and a daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Wilson. In 1869 Mr. D. moved from Illinois to Missouri, locating in Henry County; bought a farm in Deepwater Township. This is a fine body of land of 160 acres, adjoining the town of Montrose. He was occupied in farming thereon until 1878, when he rented it. He has recently sold this farm and contemplates spending the coming summer in the land of his nativity.
