The subject of this sketch was born in Boonville, Missouri, April 2, 1856. His father, John M. Jegglin, a native of England, has been a large manufacturer of stoneware in Boonville for a number of years. His mother's maiden name was Anna M. Balliger. G. A. was the second of a family of four children. His youth was spent in Boonville in attending the public schools, and he worked with his father until 1875, when he went to Marshall and clerked in a store for fifteen months. Returning to his birthplace he remained until becoming proficient in his present business. He worked seven months at Palmyra, Missouri, and in 1880 came to Calhoun, where he labored at his trade until 1881, then engaging in the business.
