KNOLES BIOGRAPHIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== KNOLES, Eli M. - b: 1814 Gibson Co, IN source: 1883 History of Henry Missouri , National Historical Co. - page: 788 residence: Bethlehem Twp Eli M. Knoles, farmer and stock grower, came to Henry County, Missouri, in the fall of 1863, from Menard County, Illinois, where he had resided since 1849. He secured a tract of 280 acres, and is now living on a farm of 240 acres on section 2. Mr. Knoles was born in Gibson County, Indiana, January 29, 1814. His parents, Jesse and Elizabeth (Read) Knoles, were natives of Georgia. They died in Illinois. The family contained nine children, of whom Eli was third. Of these four are now living. He assisted his parents in improving new farms, living as all settlers of new countries must live, and in 1834, when but twenty years old he married Miss Louisa West, who was also born in Gibson County, Indiana, March 10, 1815. They have reared six boys of whom the eldest, Hampson, died in the army; Marion, Jesse, Nathan, Henderson and Eli, all are living near their parents. Marion married Miss Mary Hutchison, Jesse married Miss Martha Eaton, Nathan married Miss Martha Turner, Henderson's wife is Miss Jane Crawford, and the youngest, Eli, married Miss Sarah Van Winkle.
