In 1844 Samuel & Margaret came to Henry County Missouri with several of their children. The following are known to have lived in Big Creek Township: James C. and wife Tabitha; Alvin and wife Elizabeth Ann "Betsey"; Catharine E. and husband John L. Gray; William H. and wife Elizabeth Jane Norris. After the death of her husband, Margaret Gray Ross lived with her son William H. and family. Many descendants of these families still live in the same area.
