BAKER OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== BAKER, Betty Lee WILLIAMSON 1930 - 1966 Mrs. Wendell L. Baker, Held In High Esteem - Funeral Services for Mrs. Wendell Baker, 36, of 610 East Ohio who died April 23 (1966), at Clinton General Hospital, were conducted at 3:00 p. m., Tuesday, April 26, at the Clinton Methodist Church by the Rev. J. Leslie Hartz. Mrs. Tom Moore was soloist and Miss Sarah Margaret Gilbert, organist. Casket bearers were Bob Evans, Bruce Hord, William E. Mansfield, Edward Barnhorst, Robert Kenny Jr., and David Lee Dennis. Interment was in Memory Gardens with Consalus Funeral Home in charge. Betty Lee Williamson was born March 7, 1930, in Clinton, the eldest daughter of Mrs. Elma L. Williamson; Clinton, and Roy G. Williamson, Columbia, MO. She received her education in the Clinton Schools, graduating from High School in 1948. On April 24, 1950, she married Wendall L. Baker, and four sons including twins, were born to them, Wayman Eugene, Wesley Lynn, Larry Lee, and Gary Dee. Mrs. Baker was a member of the Clinton Methodist Church, active in P. T. A. and Boy Scout work, especially in encouraging and working with her son, Wayman in achieving the Eagle Scout award. She participated in civic concerns to the fullest extent of her time without neglecting her family. She was a faithful and good wife and mother in every way, and daily watched over the welfare of her family. She was held in high esteem by all who knew her, and was loved by those who belonged to the circle of her activities and her wide circle of friends. She leaves her husband and four sons, of the home; her parents; a sister, Mrs. Jo Ann Colt, Windsor, MO.; two brothers, Bill Williamson, San Francisco, Calif., Roger Williamson, Clinton; many other relatives and friends. BAKER, Clara DAWSON 1901 - 1954 Clinton Eye, Thurs, Jul 22 1954 Mrs. Warren Baker died at the hospital in Harrisonville about 5:00 a.m. July 17. She had been under the care of a Lowry City physician the past month and her condition became critical on Friday. Clara Dawson, only child of Curt and Eliza Dawson, was born Jan. 1, 1901, in Bates County, near Ballard. At an early age she moved with her parents to Butler where she resided until her marriage to Warren H. Baker on March 17, 1926. They first lived near Montrose and Butler and in 1934 moved to a farm northeast of Brownington which had since been their home. Survivors include the husband three sons, Frank and Harry of Kansas City, and Warren of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Willard Mayfeld, Valdesta, Georgia, and Mrs. Bud Lee, Warrensburg; her mother, Mrs. Eliza Smith and step-father, of Butler; also four grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Last rites were conducted at 2.30 p.m., July 20, at the Brownington Baptist Church by Rev. Howard H. Lewis. Burial was in the Maplewood Cemetery. Hurst Funeral Service in charge. BAKER, Cuba Louise 1911 - 1994 Mrs. Cuba L. Baker, 82, Osceola, died Tuesday, May 31, 1994, at St. John's Regional Health Care Center in Springfield. She was born near Collins and was a lifelong St. Clair County resident. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Christian Church. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 2, at 2 p.m. at the Sheldon- Goodrich Chapel in Osceola. Burial will be in the Freeman-Holsapple Cemetery near Collins. (born: Sep 9 1911) BAKER, Gladys MOORE SIMS 1907 - 1991 Gladys Sims Baker, 84, Harmony Gardens, Warrensburg, formerly of Windsor, died Saturday, December 7, 1991 at her home. She was born August 22, 1907 in Guthrie, Ok., the daughter of William G. and Amanda Jane Wallace Moore. On February 8, 1930 she married Herbert C. Sims. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1958. She married James Lesley Baker on October 26, 1984 in Gore, Ok., and he survives. Mrs. Baker worked in the shoe packing department at the International Shoe Co. in Windsor for 30 years before retiring in 1973. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Windsor. Survivors in addition to her husband, of the home, are two sons, Clifford D. Sims, Windsor, and Richard L. Sims, Raytown; a stepson, James Edward Baker, Ridgefield, Conn.; a step- daughter, Shirley Rossiter, Tulsa, Ok.; two sisters, Ellen Tracy, Windsor, and Lucy Crowley, Fort Worth, Texas; six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, December 9, at the Hadley Funeral Home in Windsor with the Rev. Joe Barone officiating. Burial was in Laurel Oak Cemetery. The family suggests any memorial contributions to Laurel Oak Cemetery Association. BAKER, Mary B. PADLEY 1899 - 1991 Mrs. Mary B. Baker, 92, of the Willow Lane Nursing Home at Butler, formerly of Clinton, died Monday, December 30, 1991 at the home. - Mary B. Baker was born August 30, 1899, in Bates County, the daughter of William H. Padley and Lula A. Evans. She died Monday, December 30, 1991, at Willow Lane Nursing Home in Butler, at the age of 92. She was raised in Bates County and attended the Brackney School through the eighth grade. During World War II, she worked in Kansas City as a Fred Harvey girl. While raising two young sons, she worked as a private health care nurse in Kansas City - including caring for Governor Docking's mother. She retired in 1965 at which time she moved to Clinton where she lived until she became a resident at Willow Lane Nursing Center in 1985. She loved flowers. Her home was always full of beautiful flowers. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and sewing and the color of blue. She was quite a cook. Her sons say she could cook anything, but that her cakes and pies were best. Sports, yes, she like to fish, but she didn't like football. Having helped raise some of her grandchildren, she was both mother and grandma to them. She loved them all and was always concerned about their clothes, food and especially their education. Because of what she shared with all of her family and friends, she leaves many fond memories. She is survived by two sons, Wendell of Clinton and Paul and wife, Edith, of Clinton; one son-in-law, Clifford Cummings of Butler; one brother, Everett Padley of Overland Park, Kansas; eight grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Betty L. Baker; one sister, Leona Gaugh; one great- granddaughter, Janet Cummings, and one daughter, Francile Cummings. Funeral services were held Friday, January 3, 1992 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler with Rev. Brent Haworth officiating. Burial was at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler. BAKER, Warren E. abt 1928 - 1987 Warren E. Baker, 59, died Friday, July 10, 1987 at the Wheat Ridge, Colorado Lutheran Hospital. He lived at 522 South Carter Street. He was born in Brownington, Missouri, son of Warren H. and Clara Dawson Baker. He is survived by two brothers, Frank Baker of Clinton and Harry Baker of Arvada, Colorado; two sisters, Anna Merrifield of Denver and Florence Dillon of Denver.
