BARTH OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== BARTH, Elsie GAINES 1895 - 1989 Elsie Gaines Barth, 94, of Urich Mo. died September 2, 1989, at the home. She was born in Montrose, Mo. and lived in the Urich area most of her life. Mrs. Barth was a pastor for the Church of God from 1932 to 1963, most recently at the Church of God of Mayesburg, Mo., for 15 years before she retired. She was author of Memoirs of the Trials and Triumphs of My Ministry: 60 Years of Service, published in 1984. Her husband Walter Barth, died in 1969. Survivors include a son, Wilbur Barth, Urich, Mo.; two grandsons; and eight great-grandchildren. Services were held at the Ward Chapel, Urich, Mo. Burial was in White Oak Cemetery, Urich. BARTH, Lena Magdalena GRETZINGER 1866 - 1927 Death Of A Good Woman - Lena Magdalena Gretzinger Barth was born in Zoar Station, Ohio, May 6, 1866, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. L. Burry, on October 12, 1927, being 61 years, 5 months and 5 days of age. She was married to John W. Barth in March, 1892. Mr. Barth has preceded her to the Great Beyond on September 4th of this year, just five weeks and 3 days ago. To this union were born four children - Mary M. Burry, of Urich, with whom she made her home; Clarence C., living on the home place, and Edward W., of Clinton; Amelia H., preceded her September 5, 1905, at the age of 11 years. Mrs. Barth gave her life to God's cause when just a child and lived up to the teachings of her Lord. She was always ready to assist the needy and care for the sick as long as she was able. Mrs. Barth had been in poor health for over three years, being afflicted with paralysis. She was a mother to all, as well as her children, and was a real companion to her husband. She was a tireless worker, and faced the trials and storms of life with an unusual degree of courage and optimism which freely won her the love of everyone about. With a sympathetic spirit she tried to life the burdens and trouble from those who were distressed. Her character rested upon a foundation that was deeply grounded in human love. Besides her children she leaves a sister, Mrs. Bertha Switzer, of Syracuse, N.Y.; three brothers - George Gretzinger, of Urich; Jacob Gretzinger, of Bolivar, Ohio, and Edward Gretzinger, of Wehrum, Pa., to mourn her death. A large number of other relatives and friends. BARTH, Mabel Lovenia GOODMAN 1895 - 1969 Urich Herald, abt Feb 2 1969 - Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel Lovenia Goodman Barth, 73, who died Sunday, Feb. 2, en route to Ellett Memorial Hospital, Appleton City, were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the Lucas United Methodist Church, southwest of Urich, with the Rev. J. Leslie Hartz and the Rev. James E. Crawford, officiating. Mrs. Lewis Delozier, pianist, also accompanied Mr. Delozier, who sang, "Ivory Palaces," "In The Upper Garden," and "Beyond The Sunset." Pallbearers were Oren Henny, Gerald Henny, Harold Sevier, Wilbur Barth, Charles Lee Goodman, Lloyd Goodman, Leonard Swaters and Elton Doll. Burial was in Mullin Cemetery, southwest of Urich, under the direction of Snow's Funeral Home, Urich. Mrs. Barth, the daughter of Benjamin and Bessie Harris Goodman, was born Oct. 18, 1895. She was married to Robert Lewis Barth on March 3, 1915, at her home. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1968. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Lucas. She was a Sunday School teacher for more than 45 years and very active in all other church activities. She leaves to mourn her passing her aged mother, to whom she was devoted; one brother, Roy Goodman, and his wife, Anna; many other relatives and a host of friends. Her father, two brothers, Georgie and Floyd, and one sister, Myrtle, preceded her in death. BARTH, Mable D. DUNN 1899 - 1992 Mable D. Barth was born December 18, 1899, in Henry County, the daughter of James A. and Martha J. (Tarter) Dunn. She passed away August 1, 1992 at the age of 92. Mable was married to Claude Barth. She lived all of her life in this area. She was a member of the Urich Christian Church. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 6, 1992 at Consalus Chapel, with Rev. Don Eaton officiating. Music was When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder and What A Friend We Have In Jesus with Don Eaton, soloist, and Helen Shrout, organist. Pallbearers were Howard Carney, Gene Simpson, Bob Stewart, Bill Kelsay. Burial was in Urich Cemetery. BARTH, William Eugene 1926 - 1995 William Gene (Bill) Barth, 68, Raytown, died Tuesday, January 31, 1995, at the home. Services were at 11 a.m. February 3, at the Newcomers Floral Hills Chapel. Burial was in Floral Hills Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Independence Regional Hospice. He was born December 28, 1926, in the Piper community near Urich. His parents, Clarence C. Barth and Edna M. Goodman, preceded him in death. He attended grade school at Piper and Urich, graduating from Urich High School. On August 6, 1994, he celebrated with his classmates his 50th year Class Reunion. Bill was married to Beryl Marsh of Clinton on September 19, 1945. To this union four children were born, John, Donna, Denise and David. He was a district manager for Williams Pipe Line for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He was an Army veteran of World War II, spending a portion of his service time in Europe. He was a member of the American Legion Post 371 of Urich.
