BETTELS OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== BETTELS, Bernadine (Sister Francita) 1896 - 1991 Sister Francita {Bernadine Bettels) 95, passed away Wednesday, December 11, at the convent Villa Gesu, in St. Louis. She was born Jan. 21, 1896 in Montrose. She leaves two sisters, Magdalene Swaters of Montrose, and Eleanor Willenbring of Perryville. Preceding her in death were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Bettels, two brothers, Leo of Minnesota, and Clem of Montrose; two sisters, Sr. Marietta, St. Louis, and Rose Cole, Kansas City. Funeral Mass was at 10 o'clock Friday morning. Pallbearers were Jim Swaters, Joe and Jim Willenbring, Joan Gieselman, Sr. Mary, and a nurse. Burial was near the convent Villa Gesu in St. Louis. Relatives attending were Jim Swaters, Magdalene Swaters, Montrose, and Joan Gieselman, Clinton, Eleanor Willenbring, Perryville, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Willenbring and Jim Willenbring, Jackson, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wiseman of Florissant. BETTELS, Clarence 1927 - 2000 Clinton Daily Democrat, May 15 2000 - Clarence Bettels, 72, Montrose, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City. He is survived by his wife, Aldine Bettels of the home; one step-daughter, Patty Mott of Appleton City; one step-son, Ron Volmer of Pleasant Hill; six step-grandchildren. Mass was 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Ludger's Catholic Church, Germantown, with burial in St. Ludger's Cemetery, Germantown, under the direction of Hill & Son Funeral Home, Appleton City. The family suggests contributions to the Montrose Recreation Club. BETTELS, May KAUMANS 1898 - 1991 May Bettels, the daughter of Chris J. and Catherine (Kalwei) Kaumans, was born May 27, 1898 at Montrose, and departed this life at the Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City on December 11, 1991, at the age of 93 years. May lived all her life in the Montrose area and devoted her life to her family as a housewife and loving mother. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was united in marriage to Clem Bettels on September 25, 1928 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose. To this union 4 children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 7 brothers, Ted, Ed, Carl, Chris, Dave, Anthony, and Lawrence Kaumans, and one sister, Rose Rashford. She is survived by one son, Willard Bettels of Butler; three daughters, Angeline Engeman of Montrose, LaVerne Cook of Butler, Carita Shoemaker of Raytown; two sisters, Martha Bell of Kansas City, and Eleanor Engelhart of Clinton; 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. May always took great pride and enjoyment in her flowers she kept in her yard. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends. Funeral services were held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Montrose, with Father Jerry Wegenek officiating. Music was by the Adult Choir with Aileene Mayer, organist. Pallbearers were Chris Engeman, Marvin Engeman, Jeff Shoemaker, Delbert Cook, Tommy Cook, Brent Bettels. Gift bearers were Judy Cook Hamm, Jill Shoemaker, Donna Bettels Swaters, Twila Engeman Roarke.
