BIBB OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== BIBB, Esther EDWARDS 1915 - 1991 Esther Edwards Bibb, age 76, was born January 16, 1915, near Nobby, Missouri, the daughter of the late Elbert and Mae Hughes Edwards, and passed away Monday evening, October 7, 1991 at her home in Warsaw. She was united in marriage on June 22, 1937 to Frederick Eugene Bibb at the Osage Hotel in Warsaw. Unto this union one son, Jon Frederick "Rick" Bibb was born. Her husband, Gene, preceded her in death on September 9, 1977. She is survived by one son, Rick Bibb of Decatur, Illinois; a sister, Maurine Edwards White of Kansas City; a niece Alice Gutlerrez, and her husband, Richard, and a nephew, Joe White III, and his wife Sandra. Also surviving are a great niece and great nephews, Julie, Dan and John White and a great niece and nephew, Daniel and Marissa White, all of Kansas City. A nephew, John [Bibb] Doughty, of Roseburg, Oregon, also survives. Esther was very active in the Warsaw community both professionally and civically. She retired in 1980 as County Director of the Missouri Division of Family Services after 37 years of service. She and her husband, Gene, were active in the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce, the first local efforts in Community Betterment and in attaining the first county health nurse. As one of the early members of the Warsaw Book Club, she was instrumental in founding first, the Warsaw Public Library and later helped obtain a branch of the Boonslick Regional Library. She served for several years as one of Benton County's first regional board members. She was a charter member of Benton County Historical Society and served in several official capacities. One of her great joys was helping to found and develop the Benton County Museum. In 1983, Esther was the recipient of the Civic Recognition Award given by the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce and in 1989 she was chosen Women of the Year by the Warsaw Business and Professional Women's organization of which she was a charter member and past president. Esther was also very active in the Warsaw United Methodist Church. Over the many years of her membership, she was quite faithful in giving of her time and talents. She served on many different committees within the church and for over 17 years taught the kindergarten Sunday School class. She was quite active in her work in the United Methodist Women's organization and was also willing to serve wherever she was needed. Another love of Esther's was her work in the Warsaw Garden Club of which she was a member for over 40 years. Her community work and her involvement with her church were of great importance to Esther and along with her devotion to her family, Esther reaped her labor, for it was a lifetime of many true labors of love. Funeral services were held at United Methodist Church in Warsaw at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 1991 with Rev. Asher McDaniel officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Ron Gatliff, Roy Freund, Clyde McCarty and Dr. W. K. Shepardson. Pallbearers were Lloyd Parsons, Fred Rose, Avis Burton, Ralph Karr, Darwin Schroder and John Owen.
