BORUM OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== BORUM, Bushrod 1839 - 1925 Bushrod Borum was born December 19, 1839, in Strasburg, Virginia, and died November 28, 1925, at the home of his son, Charles, near Clinton, MO, at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 9 days. At an early age he came with a married sister to Boone County, Missouri. Later they returned, but he remained with other relatives. At the beginning of the Civil War he was enlisted under General Price. At the close of the war he returned to Columbia, and in 1871 he was united in marriage to Sue Frances Harris, of that city. To this union were born ten children, eight of whom survive, and with the exception of one, all were with him during his last illness. The wife, one daughter and an infant son have passed on before. Those who remain are: W.C. and L. K. Borum, of this vicinity, Chas. and Arthur Borum of near Clinton, O.J. Borum, of Pryor, Oklahoma, Davis Borum, of Pasadena, California, Mrs. R.G. Irvine and Mrs. Oda E. Williams. In early married life he united with the Christian Church. He was one of the charter members of the church at Ohio P.O. and served in the capacity of Superintendent of the Sunday School and Elder for many years. He leaves behind him the fruits of a life well spent. Besides the children, there are left twenty-seven grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held in Appleton City Christian Church, Sunday, Nov. 29, at 2:30, conducted by Elder A.N. Lindsey, of Clinton. Burial in Appleton City Cemetery. (note: Bushrod was the son of Isaac and Catherine Kellar Borum) BORUM, Sarah Maye SCHNEIDER 1896 - 1996 Mrs. Sarah Maye Borum of Clinton was born January 18, 1896, near Deepwater, the daughter of Caleb and Sarah Maye (Kendall) Schneider. She died Wednesday, November 27, 1996, at Clinton Heath Center, Clinton, at the age of 100 years, 10 months and nine days. On March 14, 1917, Maye was united in marriage to Leland Kelly Borum near Deepwater. Maye was a homemaker and was a member of the First Christian Church, Urich. she had lived in Urich before moving to Clinton in 1994. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leland, on September 30, 1965; a son, Kenneth Bushrod Borum on September 18, 1947; a brother, Herman Schneider; three sisters, Mabel Gardner, Amelia Schneider and infant sister, Jennie. She is survived by four sons, Rev. Herman E. (Jack) Borum, Dexter, New Mexico, Richard L. Borum, Independence, Dee Borum, Creighton, and Kelly Borum, Urich; seven daughters, Virginia M. McGuire, Raytown, Susie M. Romine, Abilene, Kansas, Lucille Williams and June Millam, both of Clinton, Eula F. Bullard, Independence; Joyce Hearting, Appleton City, and Sharon Firsick, Raytown; 32 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; five great-great- grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were Saturday, November 30, at 10:30 a.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Rev. Giffin Simmons officiated. John DeLozier sang Child of the King, The Old Rugged Cross and When I Get To The End of the Way, accompanied by Joy DeLozier, pianist. Pallbearers were Brian Borum, Tony Borum, Dan Firsick, Dennis Millam, Ken Borum, Rick Bullard, Darwin Hearting and Gary Williams.
