BOYLES OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== BOYLES, Amanda MERANDA 1860 - 1938 Mrs. Boyles, 78, Dies Last Night - Funeral Services to Be Held at Home Tomorrow Afternoon Mrs. Amanda Boyles, 78 years of age, died at 7:30 o'clock last night at her home at 216 South Twenty-fourth street. She had been ill since suffering a stroke of paralysis last May 16. Mrs. Boyles had been a resident of Lexington for the past eleven years. She was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Clark Meranda and was born on March 30, 1860 in Indiana. She was married on March 14, 1878 in Henry county, Missouri, to Peter S. Boyles who preceded her in death on July 26, 1915. She was a member of the Baptist church. Mrs. Boyles is survived by two sons, Sam H. Boyles of Lexington and Alfred P. Boyles of Quincy, Illinois; one daughter, Mrs. Izetta Dunkle of Pueblo, Colo.; a brother A. P. Meranda of Lathrop, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. A. E. Melton, Houston, Tex.; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. James A. Adams at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the home of Sam Boyles of South Twenty-fourth street. The burial will be in Machpelan cemetery. BOYLES, Goldie Myrtle WOIRHAYE 1890 - 1928 Mrs. C. A. Boyles In Heaven - Goldie Myrtle Woirhaye, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Woirhaye, and beloved wife of Charles A. Boyles, was born at Hartwell Mo., January 22, 1890, and died at her late home in Urich, Mo., December 28, 1928, age 38 years, 11 months and 6 days. She grew to womanhood in this community, in early life, uniting with Hartwell Baptist church, continuing in this faith through life. She was united in marriage to Charles A. Boyles, February 6th, 1907, and to this union five children were born, all now living. They are Lelia, age 10; Joyce 7; Hoy Ferne, 5; Billy Dale, 2, and Ila Jane, the baby. She also leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Charles A. Boyles; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Woirhaye, of LaDue; two sisters, Mrs. Inez Burge, of Ft. Lupton, Colo.; Mrs. Ethel Middaugh, of LaDue; one brother, Henry Woirhaye, of Urich. She was a faithful and loving wife and mother and will be sadly missed by relatives and a host of friends and neighbors. Funeral Services, conducted by Rev. Baker, pastor of the Garden City Baptist church, were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Urich Baptist church and were largely attended. Burial was made at the Urich cemetery. BOYLES, Peter Samuel 1845 - 1915 A Good Man Gone - Bro. P. S. Boyles was born in Athens County, Ohio, Dec. 25, 1845. He departed life here July 26, 1915, at the age of 69 years, 7 months, and 1 day. He was married to Amanda Meranda March 14, 1878. To this union 7 children were born, of whom 4 are living, the others having died in their infancy. He came with his parents to Missouri in 1860. Bro. Boyles made a profession of religion and joined the Huntington Baptist church in 1866 with his brother G. W. Boyles. He joined the Hartwell Baptist church some 18 or 20 years ago. He was a great man to visit the sick far and near. He was an obliging neighbor, a true father, a kind husband and a friend to all. He was one of our best friends. To know him was to admire him. Our temporary loss is his eternal gain. He leaves a wife, a brother, a half brother, a sister, 4 children and a host of friends to mourn his leaving us. His daughter, Mrs. Mary Gaffin, of Lexington, Mo., who had been so untiring in her efforts to comfort him in every way possible was not able to attend the funeral because of sickness. Bro. Boyles was sick for over three years. His funeral was held in the Hartwell Baptist church, July 27, 1915, by the writer at 2:30 p.m. Text. 1st John 3:2: "We shall be like Him." Subject: Heaven. Pall bearers: W. E. Dunn, R.L. Blevins, Chis Norris, John Eli, George Moore, R. M. Morgan. He was buried in the beautiful Norris cemetery, some two miles north of Hartwell. - J. M.
