BRENTON OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== BRENTON, Goldia SMITH 1888 - 1976 Meeker, Colorado - Services Held For Goldia Brenton - Funeral services for Goldia Brenton, mother of Mrs. Mabel Amick of Meeker, were held from the W. C. Zobel Funeral Home at 2 o'clock yesterday, August 25th, with interment following in Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Brenton passed away Sunday, August 22nd (1976), at Walbridge Wing. Officiating at the service were Bishop Doug Livingston and Jarrell Massey. Mrs. Opal Massey, organist, played Beyond The Sunset and Beautiful Isles of Somewhere. Pallbearers were Thomas Murry, Ben Lugenbeel, Jack Frost, Preston Amick, Robert Kracht and Ben Long. Honorary pallbearers were Sherman Taylor, S.C. Sanderson, Maurice Rhodes, Boyd Crawford, Bill Sides and Duke Hughes. Arrangements were in Charge of W. C. Zobel Funeral Home of Meeker. Goldia Smith, eldest daughter of Alex and Annie Smith, was born in Calhoun, Henry County, Missouri on October 3, 1888. She came to Colorado with her father and step-mother in 1898, where her father settled at Cripple Creek and worked in the mining business. He was killed in a mine accident at Sunshine, Colorado in the summer of 1900. That year, she came with her step-mother to Pleasant Valley above Steamboat Springs where at the age of 19 she met, fell in love, and on June 26,1907, was united in marriage to Henry Frank Brenton at Oak Creek. Three children were born to this union. Goldia was preceded in death by her beloved husband and life partner, Henry, on February 2, 1971, and her eldest son, Everett James. Those left to mourn her passing are one son, Melbourne, of Farmington, New Mexico, and a daughter, Mrs. Mabel Amick of Meeker, four grandsons: James K. Amick of Morgantown, W.Va.; Thomas L. Brenton of Minneapolis, Minn.; Dr.Gerald E. Brenton of Benbrook, Tex.; and Frank Brenton of Casper, Wyo.; one granddaughter, Goldia Marie Moomey of Meeker, 14 great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
