BURGESS, Jeremiah "Jerry" 1826 - 1916

Uncle Jerry Burgess, died at the Mitchell home here Tuesday morning at six 
o'clock, at the age of 90 years.  Until the past year, Uncle Jerry had been quite 
active and was able to make regular trips to and from town, walking around and 
enjoying life.  He had remained at home the past year or so and gradually grew 
weaker until the end came.  He was identified in business here for several years, 
being associated in the meat market, with L. B. Mitchell.  All business houses 
closed Friday during the funeral.  Uncle Jerry was one of the old settlers of this 
community, having lived here for the past 25 to 30 years.  He was one of the 
strongest admirers of Theodore Roosevelt in the community. The funeral service 
was held Friday morning at 9 o'clock at the home conducted by Rev. Wade Johnson.  
The remains were laid to rest at the K.P. Cemetery beside his wife who died here 
several years ago.  Besides other relatives and friends, he leaves a son and two 
daughters all living in other states. - Card of Thanks: We desire to express our

neighbors and friends during the illness and death of Uncle Jerry Burgess.  Mrs. E
