BURNS OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== BURNS, Ida M. SNELL 1863 - 1914 The community was shocked to learn on Sunday morning of the death of Mrs. Ida Burns, the sad event occurring Saturday night in the German hospital at Kansas City, whither she had been taken by her mother and brother on the previous Wednesday evening for treatment and operation for goiter, with which she had been afflicted for years. The immediate cause of her death was a spell of violet coughing and choking. Despite her bodily affliction, Mrs. Burns was a woman of indomitable will and energy, and for many years was very successful in business ventures, and was conducting a hotel at the time of her departure for the hospital. her remains were brought to Calhoun Sunday evening and interment Monday afternoon. Rev. Kelley, pastor of the South methodist Church, of which she was a member, conducting the funeral services, which were attended by nearly the entire community and quite a number of friends from Windsor and Clinton. A great profusion of flowers marked the love of personal friends and the Rebekahs, of which order she was a member, the lodge attending the funeral in a body. Miss Ida Snell was born at Atkinson, Wisconsin, April 30, 1863; came with her parents to Missouri in 1873; was married to James D. Burns 1883. Died October 17 1914, in her 52nd year. An aged mother, a brother, W. A. Snell, in Calhoun, a step- brother, Ed N.
