BURWELL OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== BURWELL, Ernest A. 1920 - 1993 Ernest Burwell was born November 6, 1920 in Kansas City, Mo. to Roy and Mary Burwell. He passed away December 25, 1993 at Truman Lake Manor, in Lowry City, Mo. Ernest was one of five children. He has tree brothers and one sister, all of whom preceded him in death. When he was 15 years old he went to work for the Swope Park Golf Course in Kansas City, Mo. as a caddy. In 1941 he was drafted into the army, he took his training in Colorado Springs, Colorado, from there he was shipped over seas to Germany where he joined the Timber Wolf Division as a medic. Ernest saw service in Germany, France, Belgium and Holland. He was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge, and was hospitalized for several days before being sent home on the troop ship U.S.S. Washington. Ernest received several metals and a letter of accommodation from the President of the United States, after serving his country for three years. In 1946 he went to work for Kaw Transport as a truck driver. He drove trucks for 16 years. In 1962 he moved to Windsor, Mo. where he went to work as a police officer. He was elected Chief of Police in 1965 and served two years in that position. He later went into business for himself buying and selling scrap metal. In 1970 he moved his family to the Roscoe, Mo. area where he built a house on the Osage River, where he started a business of selling worms, he had a route from Roscoe to Camdenton. Ernest lived in the Roscoe area until his health forced him to move closer to the Doctor. He is survived by his wife Verda of the home, 2 sons, Ernest Burwell Jr. of Osceola Mo; Jimmy Burwell of Kansas City, Mo.. Five daughters, Patricia Johnson of California, Carolyn Burns of Washington, Cathy Stingley of Illinois, Mrs. Diana Baumann of Sand Springs, OK. and Mrs. Pam Stevens of Osceola. Seventeen grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. BURWELL, Kenneth C. 1929 - 1967 Kenneth Burwell, 37, Dies At Windsor Nursing Home - Funeral services for Kenneth Carter Burwell, 37, were held Friday afternoon at Gouge Funeral Home conducted by Rev. O. L. Taylor, pastor of Calvary Baptist church. Burial was in Laurel Oak Cemetery. Mr. Burwell died March 8 at Windsor Nursing Home where he had been a patient about nine months. Mrs. Walter Chipman and Mrs. Clark Henry sang, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "What A Friend", accompanied by Mrs. Belford Jackson, organist. Pallbearers were Randall Harvey, Rick Moore, Bill Chandler, Homer Christy, James Parrish and Jerry Mefford. Mr. Burwell was born Oct. 25, 1929 in Kansas City, son of Roy N. and Mary M. Burwell. He came to Windsor with his parents when he was about 19 years of age. Surviving are his father of the home here; one sister, Mrs. Nadine Moore, Independence: two brothers, James and Ernest Burwell, Windsor; seven nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1963. BURWELL, Mary M. RICHARDSON 1901 - 1963 Death Sudden for Mrs. Roy Burwell - Mrs. Roy Burwell, 61, mother of Marshal Ernest Burwell, died Tuesday evening at Windsor Hospital following a heart attack. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon (Thursday) at the Gouge Funeral Home. Mrs. Burwell complained about feeling badly about 3 o'clock and death came shortly after 6 o'clock. BURWELL, Mary Madeline SIPES WILSON 1911 - 2000 Clinton Daily Democrat, Mar 8 2000 - Mary Madeline (Sipes) (Wilson) Burwell, 88, Windsor, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at the Truman Valley Health Care Nursing Home in Windsor. She was born September 20, 1911, in Forest City, the daughter of Peter Jackson Sipes and Olive Jane (Dawson) Sipes. On December 24, 1929, in Savannah she married Raymond Asbury Wilson, who preceded her in death in May of 1957. In 1959, she married James Burwell, who also preceded her in death. Mrs. Burwell was a farmer's wife and also cooked at several restaurants in Windsor for many years. Survivors include two daughters, Geneva Lou Howell, Oak Grove, and Karen Osborn, Windsor; five grandchildren, Stacia R. Keele, Troy Evrard and Mark Evrard, all of Windsor, Mike Howell, Lee's Summit, Kevin Howell, Oak Grove; three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Burwell was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Billy J. Wilson, 19, and Raymond L. Wilson, two-weeks, and seven brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be Thursday 2 p.m., at the Oregon Christian Church, Oregon, Mo., with Rev. James Kelly officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 7-8 p.m., at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon, Mo. Oregon funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Chamberline Funeral Home, Oregon. BURWELL, Roy Nathan 1889 - 1980 Roy N. Burwell, 90 died Saturday, Aug. 9, 1980, in a nursing home in Harrisonville, Mo.. He was born Dec. 5 1889, in Wellsville, Mo., son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Burwell. In 1917, he married Mary Richardson who preceded him in death. Mr. Burwell was a city employee in Windsor. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. L. M. (Mary) Moore, Independence; two sons, James Burwell and Ernest Burwell, both of ElDorado Springs; nine grandchildren and six great-grand-children. Graveside services and burial were held Tuesday Aug. 12, at Laurel Oak Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Prosser officiating.
