CHAMBERS OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== CHAMBERS, Carl Jackson 1912 - 1991 Carl Jackson Chambers, son of John and Essie K. (Story) Chambers, was born in Tiffin, Mo., on May 22, 1912. He passed away in Springfield on December 14, 1991, at the age of 79. When he was three weeks old he was one of the first people to use the Union Station in Kansas City. He traveled by train from there to New Mexico where he lived for three years before returning to the Appleton City area where he lived the rest of his life. After graduating from high school, he drove a tour bus during the summer months for teachers going from Warrensburg to California and New York. As he grew up he helped his father on the family farm, buying and working livestock. Later he worked for the Pasley Sale Barn in Osceola as an auctioneer and weighed livestock. He also worked at the Baker, Sivils and Ghere sale barns in Butler and the Cantrell sale barn in Archie. He also worked as an auctioneer, conducting sales of his own. He was preceded in death by his parents: two brothers, James T. and Baldwin Chambers, and one sister, Essie Margaret Chambers. He is survived by his brother, Thomas E. Chambers, and his wife, Gertrude, of Menominee, Michigan and his very special friend and companion, Mildred Shoemaker, of Appleton City. He enjoyed collecting antiques and his auctioneer work. He was a kind and caring person who was always willing to be a good friend and helpful neighbor. He will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Funeral services were Wednesday. December 18, 1991, at 1:30 p.m. at the Eckhoff-Hill Funeral Home in Appleton City. Jim Walker officiated. Idavee Claiborn, organist, played How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace. Pallbearers were Dale Pasley. Don Ghere, Jim Allen, Bert Green, Walt Gregory and C. L. Piepmeier. Honorary pallbearers were H. J. Piepmeier, Larry Cantrell, Earl Thomas, Jack Sivils, Jack Reed, Ross Wingfield. Burial was in Appleton City Cemetery. CHAMBERS, Lynn Chester 1911 - 1986 Lynn Chester Chambers passed away on Thursday, July 24, 1986, at Truman Lake Manor in Lowry City, MO. He was 74 years of age. He was born October 1, 1911, in Calhoun, the son of George T. and Vancha I. Johnson Chambers. Mr. Chambers and Mabel I. Daniels were married on January 12, 1930, at Calhoun. One son, Douglas, was born to this union. He was a public school music teacher and taught many years in this area, retiring in 1978. He accepted Christ as his Saviour at a very young age. He was past president of the sunset Optimist Club and was active until his death.
