CLARK OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== CLARK, Alma Allean ARNOLD 1909 - 1992 Alma Allean Clark was born January 28, 1909 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Lester T. and Lena L. Templeton Arnold. Alma died February 14, 1992 at Westwood Care Center where she had lived for several years. She married Albert H. Clark on April 18, 1928 in LaMonte, Mo. and to this union two children were born, Lester Martin Clark of Sunrise Beach, and Lena Mae Guengerich of Weatherby Lake. Alma worked for a number 9f years at the Meuhlbach Hotel in Kansas City, the Jones Store and for a time at Wileys Cafe in Clinton. Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Albert. Survivors include her children, Lester and Lena; two sisters. Hazel Ash of Sedalia. Opal Kendall of the State of Texas; a brother, Ernie Arnold of Holden; three grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 17, at Consalus Chapel, with Brother Jim Hammock officiating. Burial was in LaMonte Cemetery. CLARK, Arthur David 1916 - 1989 Arthur David Clark Dies - Arthur David Clark was born 13 August 1916 and entered into rest 26 April 26, 1989. Funeral services were held at Consalus Chapel, Saturday, 29 April at 2 p.m. Casket bearers were Larry Norcross, Terry Mitchell, Gene Jerome, Pat Beckman, Lonnie Norcross, Wayne Norcross, David Huenefeldt and Billy Skaggs. Burial was in Englewood Cemetery. CLARK, Bertha Marie HUESER 1917 - 1995 Bertha Marie Clark, 78, Pleasant Hill, died Sunday, October 8, 1995, at Research Medical Center. She was born on September 13, 1917, to Mary Elizabeth and William Hueser in Clinton. She had four sisters and two brothers. On August 14, 1947, she married Wilbur R. Clark. They lived the past 35 years in Pleasant Hill. During this time, she enjoyed the years she spent at the Pleasant Hill Golf & Country Club with her family, members and guests. She is survived by her husband, Wilbur R. Clark, of the home; children, Jerry, Terry and Tom of Pleasant Hill, Ed and Lori Clark of Pleasant Hill, Alan and Bambi Clark of Spring, Texas, Linda and Jim Bennett of Lee's Summit; grandchildren, Carri and Shawn Basil, Jeanie, Chris and Steven Clark, Lindsay and Kristin Bennett and one great- grandchild, Caleb. A private service was held on Tuesday, October 10, under the direction of the Stanley & Son Funeral Home. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to Children's Mercy Hospital. CLARK, Flora Alice 1905 - 1982 Flora Alice Clark was born April 29, 1905, in Bates County, MO. Mrs. Clark died January 24, 1982, at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton. She spent her life in and around Clinton and was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Allen Clark, in 1977. She is survived by three children, Wanieta Kratzer of Rolla; Shirley Hetherington of Kansas City, and James Clark of Liberty; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday, January 26, at 1:30 p.m., at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, with burial in the Shawnee Mound Cemetery. CLARK, Harvey A. 1894 - 1977 Funeral services for Harvey A. Clark were held at two p.m. Saturday, January 19, 1977, at Vansant Funeral Home in Clinton. Burial was in Shawnee Mound Cemetery. Mr. Clark died January 26 at Chastain's nursing home in Clinton at the age of 82, after a long illness. He was the son of Samuel H. and Lavina Jane Clark, born July 16, 1894 in Henry County. On December 25, 1923, he married Flora Alice Pumphrey. They had three children. He is survived by his wife, Flora, and their three children; one brother, Leonard Clark of Shawnee Mound; one sister, Elizabeth Tubbesing of Latour. His parents, five sisters and one brother preceded him in death. CLARK, John Arden 1906 - 1970 John Arden Clark died April 4, 1970, in Bakersfield, CA. He was the youngest son of Samuel Harper Clark and Levina Jane Bradley Clark. He was born in Shawnee Mound, October 22, 1906. He graduated from the Shawnee Mound High School in 1926. On May 18, 1929, he was married to Lucille Lantz of Clinton, MO. To this union were born two sons and one daughter. He leaves his wife, Lucille of the home and the above mentioned children; two brothers, Leonard and Harvey, of the Shawnee Mound community; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Pumphrey of Clinton and Mrs. Harry (Elizabeth) Tubbesing of Latour. Mrs. Ida Bradley of Clinton is his only living aunt. Services were held April 8 at the Greenlawn Memorial Chapel with burial in the Garden of Prayer, Greenlawn Park Cemetery, Bakersfield, CA. CLARK, Lavina Jane 1871 - 1954 Mrs. Lavina Jane Clark, 83, the mother of Mrs. Irene Pumphrey of Clinton, died suddenly at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 4, 1954 at her home in Shawnee Mound. CLARK, Leota n/a - 1992 Mrs. Leota Clark, 91, Independence, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1992 at the Independence Regional Health Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1992 at New Salem Chapel; graveside services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Clark Cemetery, Hardin, Mo. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Richmond Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Clark was born in Calhoun and lived in Richmond most of her life; she moved to Independence in 1976. She was a member of the church and its Women's Church League. Her husband, Lee Clark, died in 1960. Survivors Include a daughter, Frances Mullnix Mathews of the home; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. CLARK, Louis H. 1919 - 1992 Louis H. Clark, son of Claude and lnez E. (Stone) Clark, was born December 25, 1919 in Worthing, S.D., and departed this life at his home in Appleton City June 29,1992 at the age of 72. Louis moved to Ballard with his family when he was 12, and has remained in the Rockville and Appleton City area since. Louis served his country in the army during World War II and was a member of the Montrose V.F.W. Post 8820. He was employed by Peabody Coal Co. as a welder and also worked as a farmer. Louis and Wanita Poore were united in marriage May 6, 1942 in Adrian, and to this union two daughters were born. Louis was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Wanita, of the home; his daughters. Linda Beebe, and Karen Huey, both of Appleton City; one sister, Violet Jordan of Appleton City; and two grandchildren, Trent Beebe and Kerri Huey. Louis was a kind man who loved to tease and truly enjoyed life. He was very devoted to his family and grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of his life. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 1, 1992 at Eckhoff-Hill Funeral Home, Appleton City, with Rev. Clyde Merriman officiating. Music was From a Distance and Amazing Grace by Linda Hargrave, Karla Kelly and Jeannette Hill, vocalists, and Mary Beth Stout, organist. CLARK, Margaret Marie ELLIOTT n/a - 1994 Margaret Marie Elliott Clark, 80, Belton, died Sunday, December 18, 1994, at Research Medical Center there. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Smith Bend Cemetery, rural Osceola. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the George Belton Chapel. Mrs. Clark was the daughter of Joseph Henry and Lidda Jane Burkhart Elliott, and was born in Vista. She is survived by her husband, Marvin Clark. of the home; sons, David Clark of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Delbert Clark of Lee's Summit; two daughters, Linda Ruch of Las Cruces and Joyce Carter of Jasper, Mo.; four grandchildren and two great- grandsons. Mrs. Clark had lived in the Smith Bend area before moving to Belton 34 years ago. She was a seamstress for the Grace Company, which made children's clothing, for 28 years. She was a Christian. CLARK, Margaret Mary HOGUE 1925 - 1991 Margaret Mary Clark, 66, Warrensburg, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 1991 at Western Missouri Medical Center. She was born May 19, 1925 in Warsaw, the daughter of James Wisdom Hogue and Clara Goodwin Hogue. Survivors include one daughter, Viola Maike, Wamego, Ks.; two brothers, James Hogue, Kansas City, and Charles Hogue, Lincoln; three sisters, Florence Poe, Warrensburg, Viola Knox, Lincoln, and Dorothy Marsh, Fristoe; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Holdren Funeral Home. Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Care of West Central Missouri, Warrensburg. CLARK, Marvin Monroe 1910 - 1996 Marvin Monroe Clark, 85, Belton, died Wednesday, February 28, 1996. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at Smith Bend Cemetery, near Mt. Zion. The family suggests memorials to the Smith Bend Cemetery Fund for care and maintenance. Mr. Clark was born July 9, 1910, in St. Clair County, near Iconium. He was a farmer and carpenter. He moved at age 37 from his home place in the hills of Missouri to a Clinton area farm until 1957 when he went to work for J. W. Batson and traveled throughout the west, working as a carpenter. He retired in Belton but continued to keep his roots in his beloved home place where he as born and lived those 37 years. He loved to hunt and fish and tell funny little stories. His motto was always "Laughter is the best medicine." He will always be missed by his sons, David Marvin Clark, Los Cruces, New Mexico, and Delbert E. Clark, Lee's Summit; daughters, Joyce Arlene Carter, Jasper, and Linda Margaret Ruch, Los Cruces, New Mexico; daughters-in-law, Judy and Lois Clark; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of friends. CLARK, Nellie May AUER 1886 - 1959 Last rites for Mrs. Elmer Clark, 73, who died of a heart condition about 9 p.m., Dec 7, 1959, at her home five miles northeast of Clinton were held at Sickman- Dunning Funeral Home. Burial was in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton. Nellie May Auer was born Nov 12, 1886, northeast of Clinton, one of six children of Henry E. and Elizabeth Sauerwein Auer who came to Missouri from Illinois. A sister, Mrs. J. B. Oskin, preceded her in death. On July 11, 1906, she married Elmer David Clark. Besides her husband of the home and her son, David Elmer, she leaves three grandsons, David Michael, Charles Edward and Robert Earl; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Hall, Sedalia and Mrs. Effie Schierenberg, Prairie Grove, Ark: two brothers, Michael Auer and Ed Auer. CLARK, Otho A. n/a - 1994 Otho A. Clark, 91, Clinton, died Wednesday, April 20, 1991, at the home of his daughter in Clinton. He was born in Oelwein, Iowa, and lived in Atherton, Missouri, most of his life prior to moving to Clinton in 1991. Mr. Clark was a co- owner and founder with Ocie Hughes of the Clark Manufacturing Company in Atherton for 32 years, retiring in 1959. He then owned and operated Otho Clark Industries from 1969 to 1991. He was a member of the Central Missouri and Blue Valley Stake Bishopric and pastored the Atherton congregation from 1947-1950 of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Clark, in 1989. Survivors include two sons. Richard Clark, Tucson, Arizona, and David Clark, Orange. California; one daughter, Betty Munden, Clinton; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and seven great-great- grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 25, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in the Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence. CLARK, Owen I. n/a - 1996 Owen I. Clark, 73, Aurora, formerly of Clinton, died Monday, April 29, 1996, at Cox Medical Center in Springfield. He was a truck driver for many years before retiring. He recently moved to Aurora from Clinton to be near his daughter. Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Clark of Marceline; two daughters, Catherine Ann Clark of Marceline and Jo Ellen Gibson of Aurora; one brother, Raymond Clark of Clinton, and one sister, Wilma Clark, also of Clinton. Sickman & Dunning Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for cremation. CLARK, Samuel Leonard 1899 - 1980 Samuel Leonard Clark was born September 14, 1899, in Henry County, MO, and departed this life at his Shawnee Mound home on August 7, 1980. Leonard was one of ten children born to Samuel Harper and Levina Bradley Clark. In 1902, the family moved to Shawnee Mound to run the General Store there until 1911. The family then moved to Brownington, where Mr. Clark died the next year. The family then moved back to Shawnee Mound to the home where Leonard spent the rest of his life, with the exception of the three years he lived with his sister and husband, Elizabeth and Harry Tubbesing at Latour. Leonard remained at home to help his mother care for the younger children and to care for her until her death in 1954. Leonard farmed for many years both for himself and helping many farmers in the neighborhood. Later he worked as custodian for the Shawnee School. This was a happy time for hom. He loved all little children, and they always counted on Red, as he was affectionately known, as a true friend in time of need. His happy disposition caused him to have a hearty laugh. No one loved a joke better than he did. He has often remarked about the many graves that he helped dig in the church cemetery, when graves were always dug by the neighbors. He was always one of the first ones there with a pick and shovel. During the last years of his life, his loving sister, Elizabeth Tubbesing of Latour, came to help him every week. She bought his food and medicine for him. Funeral services were held Monday, August 11 at Shawnee Mound Presbyterian Church with burial in the church cemetery. CLARK, Sylvester Edward 1903 - 1995 Sylvester Edward Clark was born November 5, 1903, in St. Clair County, near Chloe. He died Friday, November 10, 1995, at his home in Clinton at the age of 92. S. E. was one of six children born to James Alfred and Julia (Cox) Clark. He was a lifelong resident of this area. On April 16, 1929, in Leesville, he was married to Violet P. Delozier. She preceded him in death on July 27, 1995. Mr. Clark was a construction worker and was a member of the labor union. Mr. Clark is survived by one sister, Jewell Kimzey, Clinton; also several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Everett Alvin Clark and three sisters, Isadore Crawford, Audra Parks Wilson and Veta Francies. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, at the Consalus Chapel, Clinton, with Rev. Don Eaton officiating. Rev. Eaton sang "When The Morning Comes" and "How Great Thou Art". Organist was Scott Brooks. Pallbearers were Raymond Carter, Don Eaton, Brian Kimzey, Darren Kimzey, Jim Kimzey and Dale Lawler. Burial was in Clinton Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Consalus Funeral Home, Clinton. CLARK, Theodore James 1907 - 1994 Theodore James Clark, 86, Rt. 2. Osceola, died Tuesday morning, March 1, 1994, at the Sac-Osage Hospital in Osceola. He was born June 30, 1907, in St. Clair County, the son of Monroe and Dora Nelson Clark. On October 30, 1939, he married Gwendolyn Smith, who survives. He lived most of his life in Henry County in the Mt. Zion community. He moved to Osceola 10 years ago. Recently he resided at Truman Lake Manor in Lowry City. He had worked for the Katy or MKT railroad and also was engaged in farming. Other survivors include three sons, Douglas Clark of Osceola, Richard J. Clark of Deepwater, Robert D. Clark of Latour; a daughter, Shirley A. Schlichting of Sweet Springs; one brother, Martin Clark of Belton; a sister, Laura Pearl Spurgeon of Lowry City, eight grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a son. Funeral services were held Thursday. March 3, at the Sickman & Dunning Chapel in Clinton. Reverend Durwood Scott was the officiating clergy. Burial was in the Smith Bend Cemetery with Noel Clark, Faron Clark, Brian Schlichting, Blaine Schubert, Tom Spurgeon and Courtney Haynes serving as pallbearers. CLARK, Violet Pearl DELOZIER 1906 - 1995 Violet Pearl Delozier Clark was born March 16, 1906, in Henry County, the daughter of R. A. and Betsey (Stone) Delozier. She died Thursday, July 27, 1995, at the Lincoln Community Nursing Home in Lincoln at the age of 89. On April 16, 1929, in Leesville, she was united in marriage to S. E. Clark. Mrs. Clark was a lifelong resident of this area. for a number of years, she worked for the Zenith Co., manufacturing fireworks. She was a member of the Northeast Baptist Church in Clinton. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, S. E. Clark, of the home; one sister, Nellie Whitchurch, Clinton, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 29, at the Consalus Chapel in Clinton. Brother Jim Hammock officiated. Don Eaton sang "When The Morning Comes" and "How Great Thou Art", accompanied by Scott Brooks on the organ.
