COLEMAN OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== COLEMAN, John Roy Sr. 1907 - 1999 Kansas City Star Oct 14 1999 - John Roy Coleman Sr., 91, died Wednesday, October 6, 1999, at the Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose, CO. Services will be 3 p.m. Friday, October 15, at the Floral Hills Memorial Chapel; burial in Floral Hills Cemetery at Blue Ridge and Gregory, Kansas City, MO. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 14, at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the KC Chapter of the American Cancer Society. John was born in Bethel, KS, on December 16, 1907, the son of Garrett Coleman and Melinda (Green) Coleman. He spent his childhood, received his education, and grew to adulthood in Kansas. In 1928, John married Marguerite M. Casteel. They moved to Independence, MO, in 1937. He worked as a truck driver for Standard Oil Co. for several years, then went to work for The Faeth Hardware Co. of Kansas City, MO, as a wholesale hardware salesman. He retired from there in 1973, after 25 years. John continued working as a tool and hardware salesman until October 1, 1998, when he could no longer work due to a stroke. John moved to Montrose, CO, in November 1998, to stay with a son, John R. Coleman Jr. and wife, Evelyn. He resided there until a third stroke caused him to go to Valley Manor Care Center, where he remained until the time of his death. John enjoyed playing basketball in his younger years, enjoyed hunting birds and being out of doors. But his main focus was working, also spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite in 1987, and a son, Robert E. Coleman in 1999. Survivors include one son, John R. Coleman and wife, Evelyn, Montrose, CO; one daughter, Barbara A. Twyman, Kansas City, MO; eight grandchildren, Mark Coleman and wife, Debbie, Montrose, CO, Kevin Twyman, Grandview, MO, John L. Coleman, Denver, CO, Denise and husband, Robert Bolinder, Palmer, AK, Debbie and husband, John Topi, Blue Springs, MO, Shari and husband, Pat Ertz, Raytown, MO, MeLinda Coleman, Montrose, CO, and Karen Twyman, Kansas City, MO, as well as 15 great-grandchildren. Other family survivors include one brother, James R. Coleman and wife, Golden, Bonner Springs, KS. In addition to his parents, wife, and one son, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. (Arrangements: D.W.
