Delozier Died - At the home of her son, George Delozier, near Leesville, Saturday night at 11:25, after an illness of a little over a week with pneumonia. Deceased was born in Tennessee 72 years ago and came with her parents to Pettis county, seven miles near Windsor in 1856, where they lived until 1868, when they moved to Calhoun. About this time she was married to J. E. Delozier, who died three years ago. Her maiden name was America Alabama Julian. Nine children were given to this union. The following are living: Joe and George Delozier and Mrs. Mary Raney, all of near Leesville; Will Delozier, of Clinton; Ray Delozier, of Kansas City. All were at her death bed. She also leaves the following brothers and sisters: Joe, George and Jim Julian of Clinton; John Julian, Appleton City; Mrs. Martha Yandell, Sedalia; Mrs. Mary Campbell, Denver, Colorado. Deceased was a good Christian woman and had been a member of the Tebo Baptist church since her early girlhood. Rev. Wynncoop, pastor of the Tebo church, preached her funeral at the Tebo church Monday morning. Burial in the cemetery nearby. DELOZIER, Carol C. "Spec" 1917 - 1990 Clinton Daily Democrat, Clinton, MO - Carol Clayton (Spec) DeLozier died Tuesday, May 20, at Bothwell Regional Hospital in Sedalia. He was born in Leesville on July 8, 1917, one of five children. His family moved to Clinton in 1929 and he graduated from Clinton High School in 1935. A few years later, he was married to Rosalie Marshall and they have two sons, Michael DeLozier, of California and Patrick of Kansas City. His oldest brother, Forest, preceded him in death. Surviving are brothers, Tracy DeLozier of Clinton and Dale DeLozier of Warrensburg, also a sister, Barbara Angle of Clinton. Mr. DeLozier served in the Army for three and one-half years during World War ll. He operated Spec's Drive In Restaurant in Sedalia for 20 years, along with other businesses. He was an avid golfer and belonged to Walnut Hills Country Club. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Sedalia. Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p. m. at Ewing Funeral Home in Sedalia, 117 West 7th Street. Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p. m. at the funeral home. DeLozier was born in St. Clair county, MO., near the town of Gerster, October 28, 1842. He departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ada Carleton, near Leesville, October 14, 1929, aged 86 years, 11 months and 17 days. His first marriage was to Miss Martha McDaniels. There were born to this union two children; T. N. DeLozier, of Pueblo, Colo., and Mrs. Horace McLain, of Calhoun. His wife having died, he was married the second time to Miss Mary Chastain. To this union eleven children were born. Two of them preceded him in death. The following remain: Mrs. Arch Kennedy, of El Dorado Springs; J. A. DeLozier, of Deepwater; R. A. DeLozier, of Leesville; W. E. DeLozier, of Clinton; I. P. DeLozier, of Pittsburg, Kas.; J. M. DeLozier, of Lincoln; Mrs. Clyde Bradley, of Calhoun; Mrs. Homer Carleton, of Leesville, and Mrs. Claude Inloes, of Clinton. He leaves two aged sisters, 36 grandchildren, and 11 great- grandchildren. His companion preceded him to the better world, March 3, 1924. From that time he has longed to go home to be with her and other loved ones. He was converted at the age of 25 at a prayer meeting held at the home of Uncle Dick Jones, under the ministry of Uncle Billy Lawler. He later joined Tebo Baptist church where he remained a member until he was called home. When able, he was always found faithful and at worship.. "Uncle" Beck, as he was called, was a soldier in the Union Army and served his country during the days of the Civil war. He was also a member of the Masonic fraternity and always practiced in his life the lessons learned in that noble order. He was always ready to help those in need and his many deeds of kindness were never forgotten by his many friends. The funeral was conducted at Tebo church by Missionary E. F. Hood, assisted by "Uncle Billy" Briggs to a large gathering of relatives and friends. The Masonic lodge of Clear Creek had charge of the graveside services. - E. F. Hood. DeLOZIER, Eugene Luther Jr. 1951 - 1994 Eugene Luther DeLozier, Jr. was born April 18, 1951, the first child of Mildred Hay DeLozier and Eugene DeLozier, Sr. He left his loved ones on December 9 1994, at Menorah of Kansas City. He was baptized into the Fairmount Methodist Church of Independence on April 14, 1957. He attended school in Deepwater and graduated in 1969. With his talent and love of music, Gene was church organist and pianist at the Christian Church of Clinton, and sang for many special occasions. In the course of his working career, he was employed at Russell Brothers of Clinton and managed the shoe department of several Wal-Mart stores. He then settled in Kansas City where he worked for E. F. Hutton and Merrill Lynch. From there he moved to Phoenix, Az., where his outstanding typing skills landed him a job with the Phoenix Sun newspaper. That in turn led to a position with the L. A. Times in Laguna Hills, Ca. Due to health problems, he moved back to Phoenix, Az., and then to Kansas City to be closer to his family. Gene's gentle spirit, sense of humor and outgoing personality made him friends everywhere he went, and he will be deeply missed by all. He is survived by his mother, Mildred Hay DeLozier of Clinton; his father and step-mother, Eugene and Donna DeLozier of Butler; brother, Garey and wife, Diana, of Seabrook, Texas; brother, Robert and wife, Tanya, of Lake Jackson, Texas; sister, Kathy and husband, Robert Lawson of Clinton; also two nephews and five nieces, plus a host of other family members. DeLOZIER, Ferroll n/a - 1993 Mrs. Homer (Ferroll) DeLozier - Word was received Wednesday morning of the death of Mrs. Homer (Ferroll) DeLozier, 83, of St. Louis early that morning. Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m., Thursday at the Southwest Baptist Church, 6401 Scandor, St. Louis. Burial will be in St. Louis. Rev. DeLozier pastored several churches in Henry County, including Quarles and Cornith Baptist Churches. He grew up east of Clinton and was a member of the Tebo Baptist Church. His address is 1700 Bellevue Ave., St. Louis, Mo. 63117. DeLOZIER, Frank Greene 1914 - 1991 Frank Greene DeLozier was born February 9, 1914, to George and Anna Brack DeLozier. He passed away Sunday morning, September 8, 1991, at the Sac-Osage Hospital in Osceola. He was born in Lowry City and was a lifelong area resident. He was a dairy farmer for over 45 years. On February 1, 1941, he was united, in marriage to Geneva Faye McCoy in Greenwood, Arkansas. To this union two daughters were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; three half- brothers, Ralph, Henry and Ray, and two half-sisters, Grace Wright and Stella Turner. He is survived by his wife, Geneva, of the home; two daughters, Phyllis Stafford, and her husband, Ron of Overland Park, Kansas, and Janice Adkins and her husband, Richard of Olathe, Kansas; four sisters, Mrs. Betty Roberts of Kansas City, Mrs. Aline Berry of Springfield, Mrs. Maxine Keith of Lowry City, and Mrs. Josephine Akins of Mankato, Minnesota; three grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. DeLOZIER, Harold Dean 1929 - 1983 Tacoma News Tribune Apr 5 1983 - Harold D. DeLozier, 54, of 4723 Parker Road, Sumner, [WA] died Sunday. (Died on Easter Sunday.) Mr. DeLozier was born in Deepwater, Mo., and moved to Sumner 30 years ago. He was an employee of Pasquier Panel Co. Survivors include his wife, Doris; a son, Martin, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Katherine) Hemold of Sumner; his father, Elmer of Milton; a brother, James in California; and five sisters, Wilma Kanzler and Shirley Englehart, both in California, Venita Scott of Milton and Myrna Rose and Linda Gogan, both of Puyallup. Powers Funeral Home, Sumner, is in charge. DELOZIER, James E. 1850 - 1921 J. E. Delozier was born in St. Clair county, Mo., Oct. 28, 1850; died March 20, 1921, at his home near Hortense, where he had lived for 41 years. He was married to Alabama Julian, Feb. 18, 1869. To this union nine children were born -- four girls and five boys; four having died before their father. Five are living -- four sons and one daughter, as follows: Mary Raney, George, Willie, Joe and Ray, all living near, and were at his bedside when he died. Deceased was the son of James and Jane Delozier, of a family of 12 children -- 4 girls and 8 boys; 9 of them still living. He professed faith in Christ at an early age and united with the Baptist church at Tebo, to which he remained true until death. When able, he was ever in his place, ready for every good word and work, but for the last 9 years he had been an invalid; not being able to feed himself, but his faithful companion was ever near him, and with tender care never failed to minister to all his needs, but now her work is done and she if left alone in this cold world to mourn her absent love. It won't be long; a few days of waiting, until there will be a reunion, where there will be no invalids. Then wife and children cheer up, trust God, believe in Jesus and be also ready, for we know not the day nor hour when He comes. The remains were taken to his dear old church, Monday, where funeral services were conducted by his life long friend, Rev. Wm. Briggs, after which the body was tenderly laid to rest in the cemetery nearby. DeLOZIER, Jewel D. n/a - 1994 Jewel D. DeLozier, 94, 12100 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Villa Ventura, died November 8, 1994, at the Research Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 12, at the Mt. Moriah and Freeman Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Lowry City Cemetery. KETTEMAN 1920 - 1994 Juanita K. Ketteman was born June 27, 1920, in Pleasant Hill, the daughter of Charlie and Sarah Maude (Waitmire) Ketteman. She died Friday, June 3, 1994, at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital at the age of 73. Juanita was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church, the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Meadow Lake Ladies Association and the Lowe Country Club, also a member of the Countryside Country Club, Naples, Florida. She is survived by her husband, Tracy, of the home; two daughters, Judy Beebe, Clinton, and Beverly Miller, Kansas City; one sister, Margaret Schwab, Whittier, California, and four grandchildren. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 6, at the United Methodist Church, Clinton. Reverend Frederick Zahn officiated. Dick Fleming sang "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" and "In The Garden", accompanied by Scott Brooks on the organ. DeLOZIER, Marguarette Elizabeth STEWART 1883 - 1964 Mrs. Asa Delozier Rites at Deepwater, July 18 1964 - Funeral services for Mrs. Asa (Maggie) DeLozier, were held at the First Baptist Church in Deepwater at 2:00 p.m., July 18 with the Rev. Chester A. Smart officiating; Lewis DeLozier was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Lewis DeLozier. Casket bearers for burial in Englewood Cemetery were nephews and grandsons, Raymond DeLozier, Noel Bradley, Virgil Bradley, Robert LaGore, Gene DeLozier and Herbert Summers. Hurst-Janssens Funeral service was in charge. Marguarette Elizabeth Stewart was born at Leesville in Henry County, Dec. 23, 1883, and died at Wetzel Hospital, Clinton, July 15, 1964, where she had been a patient about one week. On Sept. 12, 1916, she was married to James A. DeLozier. They had lived in and near Deepwater the past 41 years. Theirs was a hospitable home for both loved people and a warm welcome was extended to friends, neighbors and kinsmen who called on them. Mrs. DeLozier was a true homemaker, a splendid cook and a good neighbor. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and loyalty to friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Deepwater. Survivors include three children by a previous marriage, Clyde LaGore, Kansas City; Russell LaGore, Marshall; Mrs. Ruby Wallis, Odessa, Tex.; also a son, Ed DeLozier, Wapato, Wash.; five stepchildren Dick DeLozier, Deepwater; Elmer DeLozier, Tacoma, Wash.; Rufus DeLozier, Parker, Wash.; Tom DeLozier, Wapata, Wash.; and Mrs. Erma Dunning, Grand Junction, Colo.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many friends. Preceding her in death was a stepson, Jessie DeLozier, in 1964. DELOZIER, Mary C. CHASTAIN 1856 - 1924 Mary C. Delozier, nee Chastain, daughter of Jarah and Tabitha Chastain, was born February 25th, 1856; died March 3, 1924, age 68 years and 7 days. She was born near Leesville on the farm where she grew up to young womanhood. Early in life she professed faith in Christ and united with the Baptist church at Tebo, where she kept the relation sacred until death. At the age of 19 years she was united in marriage to E. B. Delozier in 1875, which relation was pleasant and peaceful, living happily together. To these pleasant lives were given eleven children, nine living and two are dead; one died in infancy and the other when ten years old. The living are: Laura C. Cannada, of Eldorado, Mo.; Ace J. of Deepwater, Mo.; Rufus A. of Coal, Mo.; William E., of Clinton; Israel P., of Pittsburg, Kansas; Jerry M., of Palo, Mo.; Lulu P. Bradley of Calhoun, Mo.; Ada L. Carleton, of Leesville, Mo.; Ethel I. Inlow, of Clinton, Mo. They also raised little Rufus, a grandchild, giving him a mother's love and tender care; also two stepchildren, Tommy of California, and Lucy McClain, of Calhoun, who loved and respected her as an own mother. All save Laura and Ace, who were not able to be there, were at the bedside, doing all that loving hands could do to relieve and comfort, and minister to the wants of a loving mother. Mary was one of a large family, 13 children, all of whom have died, save 3 - J. B. Chastain, of Coal, Mo.; Dan, of Rockville, Mo., and Mattie Carter, of Windsor. J. B. and Dan were present when the summons came. There are several grandchildren; all of them loved and respected her, who loved them all. She was a dutiful daughter in the home of her father and mother; loved and respected in the home, a true wife and companion, a loving mother, a good neighbor, who was held in high esteem by all who knew her. She was patient in her long affliction, going and doing all she could to bear her part of the burden of life. She said she was ready and willing to go; said there was a beautiful home in Heaven for her and her only regret was to leave her aged companion and little Rufus alone in the cold world, but the best of friends must part and God's dear children have a better home, where all are well and welcome when the battles of life are over. So rest in peace, dear mother; by the grace and help of Jesus we will meet you in Heaven, where no death or sorrow or parting is known, is the wish of husband, children, brothers and all the relatives and friends. DeLOZIER, Mildred Louise HAY 1928 - 1999 Mildred Louise (Hay) DeLozier, 71, Clinton, died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at Clinton. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday, March 22, at Consalus Chapel in Clinton. Burial was in Englewood Cemetery at Clinton. Ms. DeLozier was born February 22, 1928, in Springfield, the daughter of Elijah Monroe Hay, Sr. and Lena Eden (Bills) Hay. She was a clerk for M&M Book Store for several years and had lived in the Clinton area all of her life. She is survived by two sons. Garey L. DELOZIER, Netta Ann PENNY 1874 - 1927 Clinton Eye, Apr 1927 - Obituary of Netta Ann Delozier nee Penny - Born in Vernon county, Mo., March 9th, 1874. Moved with her parents to Benton county, where she grew up to womanhood. Early in life she professed faith in Christ and united with the Tebo Baptist church to which she remained faithful until death. On the 15th of March, 1894, she was united in marriage to George Delozier, and to this happy relation nine children were born - six boys and three girls. One boy, Willie, died in infancy. The living are Charley and Lawrence, in Iowa; Walter, in Benton county; Everette, Clark, Lena, May and Florence, at home. Like Jacob of Old, her life was bound up in the life of her children. In all the relations of life she was very devoted; a dutiful and affectionate wife of whom the heart of her husband could safely trust. As a mother always doing all a loving mother could do for the good and happiness of her home and loved ones. She loved her home, her husband and her children. She loved her church, her pastor and Sunday School, attending every service when possible, bringing the children with her. She sure was a good woman and will be sadly missed, but her work is done. Her toiling and sufferings are all over. While she will be absent from the body, she is a home with the Lord and the life she lived here is a call to all the loved ones to come to that good home above and though she cannot come to us we can go to her. Then let us not sorrow as others who have no hope for we may be lonely here, but the parting won't be for long. She leaves besides her own family, an aged father, who when told of her death said he would go tomorrow; three brothers - Bud of Clinton, Elder Lee of Bolivar, and Edd of Akron, Colo., all to mourn the absent one with many friends. She died April 13, 1927, age 53 years, 1 month, 4 days. Funeral services were conducted by Uncle Billie Briggs, a life long friend, who baptized and married her. After services, the body was laid to rest in the Tebo cemetery in the family lot near by, where so many loved ones rest, the bodies, in their graves, while the spirit has gone to be with Jesus. DeLOZIER, Opal Nioma BROWN 1916 - 1995 Opal Nioma Brown DeLozier, daughter of Walter Everette Brown and Leah Eunice Carder Brown, died on January 12, 1995, at the Republic Park Care Center in Republic. She was born on July 20, 1916, at the family home at 307 S. Fifth Street in Deepwater. As a young girl she accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at the Deepwater Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #3667, Clinton. She attended Deepwater grade and high schools. After attending school she was a clerk at the Dodson Grocery Store in Deepwater until her marriage to Theodore Grey DeLozier on October 17, 1935. To this union was born three children, William Everette, Theodore Lee and Betty Lou. After her marriage she and her husband then assisted her father-in-law in his grocery store on South Main Street in Clinton until 1938 when they moved to California. After returning to Missouri in 1945 they purchased a grocery store in Brownington and operated this for some time before opening a grocery store on North Main Street in Deepwater. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore, on January 21, 1974; her father on May 29, 1962; her mother on December 18, 1989; also two infant sisters, Lovell and Ivonne, and one 16-year-old brother, Neal, in 1935. She is survived by her three children, Bill of Deepwater, Ted of Butler, and Betty Gruber and husband Frank of Springfield; also two sisters, Nona Mae Lambert of Pasadena, California, and Agnes Irene Robertson and husband, William G., of Folsom, and one brother, Walter L. Brown of Deepwater; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday, January 16, at Consalus Chapel, Clinton. Rev. James Brack officiated. Lewis DeLozier sang "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Amazing Grace". Scott Brooks was organist. DeLOZIER, Ora Lee SHANK 1902 - 1992 Ora Lee (Shank) DeLozier, Harrisonville, was born May 22, 1902 near Racket in Benton County, daughter of Charles Henry and Dora Belle Hunt Shank, and died January 25, in St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, being 89 years , 8 months and 3 days old at the time of her death. She attended schools in Benton County. She was converted at an early age and remained faithful until the end. She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Harrisonville. She was married October 14, 1923 to Herschel DeLozier. They lived on a farm east of Clinton until 1934 when they moved to Blairstown then in 1941 they moved to Harrisonville where she continued until her death. Mrs. DeLozier was preceded in death by her husband in 1963; her parents, a sister, Opal DeLozier; two brothers, Glenn and Jesse Shank. She is survived by two daughters, Ailene Foster and Doris Edwards, both of Harrisonville; two sons, William Kenneth DeLozier, San Jose, Ca.; and Calvin Dale DeLozier, Argonia, Ks.; two sisters, May McNeely and Gertrude Keller, both of Clinton; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday, January 28, at 1 p.m. at Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, with Rev. Charles Sutton officiating. Snyder - Final Resting Place Englewood Cemetery DeLOZIER, Virgil "Ed" 1919 - 1992 Virgil "Ed" DeLozier, 73, of Wapato, Washington, died Monday, November 16, 1992 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital in Yakima. He was born April 26, 1919 in Rockville, to Asa and Maggie (Stewart) DeLozier. He was raised on a farm west of Deepwater. He went through the Fairview Grade School and graduated from Deepwater High School in 1937. He received a scholarship to the University of Missouri at Columbia but was unable to attend. He helped his father on the farm and also worked in coal mining and the Dickey Tile Factory. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in March 1942 and served three and one half years, only lacking a few thousand miles from going around the world. He married Josephine Rollin, in Penfield, Ohio, April 10, 1944. After World War II they they made their home in Ohio until November 1954, when they moved to Wapato. They returned to Ohio in 1956 through 1959 when they returned to Wapato and bought their present home. He worked many years in the maintenance department of the Wapato School District until his retirement. Ed was a member of First Baptist Church of Wapato, the AM&FM Masonic Lodge of Litchfield, Ohio, and the Washington State Old Time Fiddlers. He also played in a band called the Misplaced Missourians, in which all were from Missouri. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren and also rock hounding. Ed is survived by his wife, Josephine, of Wapato; a daughter, Betty, and husband Jim Craig of Selah; one son, Guy DeLozier of Simi Valley, Ca.; four grandchildren, Michelle and husband Gary Graff of Yakima; Jamie and wife Tracy Craig of Harrah; Jill and Tim DeLozier of Modesto, Ca.; two great-grandchildren, Rachel and Raini Graff of Yakima; mother-in-law Alvernan Biggs of Selah; brothers Elmer DeLozier of Milton, Wa.; Clyde Lagore of Hale, Mo., and Russell Lagore of Marshall; sisters Erma Dunning of Grand Junction, Co.; and Ruby Parscale of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Dick, Jessie, Tom and Rufas DeLozier. Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 19, 1992 at Merritt Funeral Home Chapel in Wapato. Burial was in Reservation Community Memorial Park west of Wapato. He retired from Pacific First Federal Savings and Loan in Tacoma after 10 years and was a member of Clover Lodge #91. Survived by son, James (Frances) DeLozier, Hesperia, CA; daughters, Wilma Kanzler, Boulder City, NV, Myrna Rose and Lynda Gratzer, both of Puyallup, Shirley Englehart, Long Beach, CA, Venita Scott, Milton; sister, Ermma Dunning, Grand Junction, CO; 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great- grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Doris DeLozier, Sumner. Viewing Thursday, 12 non-8 p.m. Funeral Servics Fri., March 5, 1 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Puyallup. Interment will follow in the Mt.
