DUDEN, Linda BELVE 1841 - 1902 Clinton Eye, Dec 20 1902 - At Home In Heaven - At 2:50 p.m. December 12, 1902, waiting angels bore the spirit of Mrs. J. B. Duden to her Savior. Her frail body had been ill with the fatal malady, appendicitis, nine days, and the spirit was anxious to go to its heavenly home, where the storms of life never enter, nor sorrow, nor weeping. Born in Gernsey County, Ohio June 28, 1841 and her maiden name was Linda Belve; at the age of 12, she moved with her parents to Carthage, Mo. where she lost both parents by death in one short year. She then went to Wayne county, Iowa where later she met her husband, J. B. Duden. They crossed the Missouri line and were married in 1858. Mr. Duden brought his family from Lineville, Iowa in 1896 and they have lived at their present home on North Second street the past six years, making friends of all who knew them and who grieve with them in the loss of a dear wife and mother. Nine children, six are living; the eldest, Loyd, lives at Lineville, Iowa; also the twins, Emma and Emery; Charlie resides at Henryietta, I.T. and Lewis at Centertown, Mo. Miss May, the youngest, is housekeeper and caretaker for her invalid father, of whom the wife's last wish was that he would be the first to join her in the New Jerusalem. The dear departed united with the M. E. Church at 19 and has been a valiant soldier of the cross and at evening time of her life, it was beautifully light. Consciousness was hers to the last and her request was for them to sing Nearer My God to Thee, Jesus Lover of my Soul and Asleep in Jesus. The remains were laid tenderly away in beautiful Englewood.
