EDMONDSON OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== EDMONDSON, Laura n/a - 1929 Laura Edmondson passed away at her home, 2793 E. 23rd St., late Tuesday morning, at 10:30 and funeral services were held from the Newcomer's Chapel Thursday and burial was made in the Mount Washington cemetery. She is survived by 3 sisters, Mrs. Mary M. Hahn of 1612 E. 37th St.; Mrs. Deufree Edmondson, and Miss Betty Edmondson both of 2703 E. 23rd St.; 4 nephews, Edward S., Roy H. and J. D. Hahn all of 1612 E. 37th. The above is taken from last Wednesday's Kansas City Times. Miss Edmondson is well known by old timers of Calhoun, who will be greived to learn of her death. EDMONDSON, Loretta WALKER 1918 - 1999 Clinton Daily Democrat July 23 1999 - Loretta Edmondson, 80, Pleasant Hill, formerly of Windsor, died Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at the Independence Regional Hospital in Independence. She was born December 3, 1918, in Passaic, the daughter of Rev. Clarence Walker and Izota B. (Sims) Walker. On November 6, 1941, in Sedalia, she married R. Clifford Edmondson, who preceded her in death on April 25 1969. She was a telephone operator in Windsor, Pleasant Hill and Harrisonville for United Telephone Company for many years, retiring in 1983. she was a member of the First Christian Church of Pleasant Hill. Survivors include two sons, Richard W. Edmondson, Harrisonville, and Philip Edmondson, Independence; a sister, Ruth Dundas, Dighton, Kansas, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving aunt, Mildred Sims. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 24, 2 p.m., at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Rev. Derrel Watkins, officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. EDMONDSON, Virginia Frances COOK LEWIS SMITH 1945 - 1997 Virginia Frances Edmondson, 52, died December 24, 1997, as a result of injuries she sustained during an automobile accident, which occurred in Benton County near Warsaw. Virginia Frances Edmondson was born Virginia Frances Cook in Clinton on May 3, 1945, the third of five children born to Howard and Helen M. Wentworth Cook. She attended St. Patrick's Catholic School in Sedalia for three years and Clinton Public Schools thereafter. She married Daniel Joseph Lewis on May 31, 1962. To this union four children were born: Daniel Francis, Rebecca Lynne, David Howard and Melissa Dawn. She accepted Christ and made her public profession of faith during a tent revival, which was held in 1964. The present site being that of the Bible Baptist Church, Clinton. She was baptized at the First Baptist Church in LaMonte in 1972. On April 30, 1977, she married Lowell D. Smith and to this union one child was born, Lowell Douglas Smith II. In 1983 she was married to Gene Edmondson. Virginia had recently moved back to Clinton after living several years in and around the Kansas City area. She enjoyed spending time with family and keeping track of her children and grandchildren of whom she was very proud. She also loved to sing and collect dolls. She had worked as a police dispatcher, Secretary/receptionist, and a pet groomer. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles "Sonny" Cook. She is survived by three sons, Danny and David Lewis of Garden City and Doug Smith of Overland Park, Kansas; two daughters, Rebecca Green of Star City, Arkansas, and Melissa Rogers of Dumas, Arkansas, and eight grandchildren. Three sisters also survive, Gloria Johnson of Clinton, Ethel Snider of Tightwad and Angelia Byrum of Tightwad. Funeral services were held December 28 at 2 p.m. under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home. Officiating was Rev. Bob Ingle of the First Baptist Church, Garden City. EDMONDSON, W. E. 1817 - 1893 W. E. Edmondson, the subject of this sketch, who died last Saturday morning, March 18th, 1893, at four o'clock, was one of the pioneer settlers of Calhoun as the following data shows: Mr. Edmondson was born in Lulenberg county, Virginia, January 22nd 1817, and come from there to Benton county, Missouri, in 1840. In 1841 he came to Calhoun and accepted a position in a general merchandise store where he stayed a year or two when he returned to Benton county. In 1845 he was married to Miss Fannie Dupree. Eight children, three boys and five girls were born to this union, four of whom survive him. After his marriage he came back to Calhoun and located and engaged in business again and has been an honored citizen of the town ever since. Eld. G. L.
