ELBERT OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== ELBERT, Thomas L. 1856 - 1926 Thomas L. Elbert passed away at his home on East Benton street Saturday morning at 5 o'clock, following a stroke of paralysis on Wednesday evening. The deceased was a native of Henry county and a son of one of the early pioneers. He was born on a farm in Tebo township January 31, 1856, lacking a couple of months of being 71 years of age. He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Robert S. Burcham, Miss Mary C. Elbert, Mrs. James O. Sutherland, all of Windsor or vicinity, and Mrs. George Weatherald of Kansas City, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was reared on his father's farm in henry county and began upon his own account in 1877, at which time he engaged in farming and purchased a tract of land in Windsor township. He remained upon the farm until 1908 and then removed to Windsor, where he engaged in the buying, selling and shipping of stock. For a number of years he was employed by the government in the purchase of mules. On February 7, 1877, he was united in marriage to Mary E. Daniels, who also came from one of the pioneer families of this section. She died August 27, 1916. The deceased was a member of the Windsor Baptist church, uniting with that organization many years ago. Tom Elbert stood high in this community and his passing will be felt as a personal loss to all. He was a member of the Windsor township board at the time of his death, was enterprising and progressive and for any proposition that would tend to improve or better the conditions of his town, county, state or nation. His friends were legion and insofar as we know he had no enemies. Funeral services, conducted by his pastor, Rev. J. A. Bryson, were held at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon and interment was made in Laurel Oak cemetery. ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
