EWING, Velma J. GREGG 1911 - 1997

Velma J. Ewing was born March 13, 1911, in Creighton, the daughter of George 
and Pearl Wells Gregg. She died Thursday, April 3, 1997, at Hilltop Home in 
Lyndon, Kansas, at the age of 86. In 1931, in Harrisonville, she was married to 
Glen Ewing, who preceded her in death in 1981. They lived in Henry and Cass 
counties until 1960, then in Independence until 1972, when they moved to Adrian. 
There they owned and operated Ewing Mobile Home Court until 1981. Mrs. Ewing 
attended the Adrain Christian Church. She moved to Lyndon, Kansas in 1992. She 
is survived by one daughter, Nona Lee Johnson, Lyndon, Kansas; one brother, 
Raymond Gregg, Stockton; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one 
great-great-grandson. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 
two sons, Lewis Steven Ewing and Leslie Marvin Ewing. Funeral services were 
held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 7, at the Urich Christian Church, Rev. Giffin 
Simmons officiated. Carolyn McQuitty sang "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou 
Art". Organist was Nettie Mouse. Pallbearers were David Wheeler, Darran 
Wheeler, Dennis Wheeler, Donald Gregg, Richard Gregg and Steve Ewing. Burial 
was in Urich Cemetery under the direction of the Consalus Funeral Home, Urich.
